Not sure what you mean by not essential. But... probably true.

However, extremely convenient if you want to keep dozens and dozens of strains on the go without having a mother room.
You can have dozens of clones without having a mother room already. Just clone plants after 2-3 weeks into flower. Really not all that hard.

I think you missed the point. This isnt about just getting clones for the next round. This is about keeping dozens and dozens of strains on hand for whenever you want to run them next. Imagine having say 50 to 60 different strains kept all in the space of a fish tank.

For myself, i have about 8 to 10 strains i would like keep going for whenever i need the particular relief they provide. I dont have the room for that many mothers even if kept bonsai style.

U should work on your techniques an procedures. U should not buy a kit only petri dishs...lastly i want to reiterate that u shouldn't have to do this n if ur storeing a culture for long periods it get less viable. tissue will breakup and ur sample will be useless

So why not just have mothers indgead? Or just buy some seeds and wait to use them. Do you tho homie

Tissue culture is for making huge numbers of plants from little starting material. Most people don't need huge numbers of plants. Then there's the fact that it would take much longer to grow a plant from a tiny plantlet than from a normal sized cutting. And the need for sterility is pretty inconvenient. It might be interesting to try just as something different but for practical purposes, probably not worth it.
