how long should roots be on my clones before i put them in my aero tubs.and can i put the clones in the net pots with just neaprean.or just use hydroton
Just long enough that the spray will hit the roots. With my NFT system the roots need to be a little longer since the spray heads shoot down. I go from my aerocloner to a spray tub when I see roots about 1-1.5" long. Once they're about 4" long I move to the NFT.

I found 3" neoprene inserts for the netpots and tossed the hydroton. Very little disturbance to the roots when going from the aerocloner to the spray systems.

Hey Loud......2 questions:

How did the shooting powder affect your PH? 1 sachet in 45 gallons took me from 3.5 to nearly 7. Looks like I'll be using PH down for the remainder of the grow instead of PH up.

Are you following H&G recommendation to shut off air pumps in your rez?

Things are beautiful. Reduced the Aquaflakes from 380ml/40 gal to 300ml/40gal. After the other additives but before the shooting powder I was at 1.4EC. Had to dilute a little since they reccomend 1.2EC before SP. DIluted and added 1 sachet (calculator says 1.6 sachet for 40 gal)......brought me to just above 1.4 EC. Seems a little low but this strain doesnt seem extremely tollerant to high EC levels.

I'll try to post pics tonight if I get a chance.

I like intermatic timers if you're not looking to control anything with an on/off duration shorter than 15 minutes. I use an Intermatic T101 for my lighting but that is a 120v timer. I think the T-104 is good for up to 277volts. Keep in mind that these timers are hard wired which means you need to connect receptacles to them. ( you can't plug directly in to them.

Intermatic makes a cheaper timer that you can plug directly in to. It's the HB 112C and is made for things like Ac's. Heres a link to both.

This isnt exact but 1 watt = 3.41 BTU's so 1200watts will be about 4000btu OR 1/3 of a ton of heat added to your home. You will DEFINITELY need to vent those fixtures.

In my area I pay about 20cents per kilowatt hour. Running (2) 600's 12hrs per day costs me about $2.88 per day or $86.00 per month. Keep in mind that this is 12 hrs/day(flower)....not 18/day(veg).

I finished building something similar a couple of months ago but without the sprayers. I have not been able to use yet but will be in action in a couple weeks. I have solution running into one end and out the other which goes into rez. I have seen true NFT systems and they all use flat bottom gullies. My question is, In your opinion do you think that my results will be as good running a true NFT but using the 6 inch pvc? or do I need to add a spray system?

As long as your roots reach the bottom of the pvc I don't see an issue.

When I transplant my clones from 1.5 inch rockwool into 3 inch baskets filled with Hydroton I can get roots long enough while cloning but will just a root or two be enough or would you need a bunch of roots hitting the bottom?
