Hey everyone, Its been a while since I been on RIU. This is a bit long but please read it all. Thanks.

I have been smoking for ever but just 2 years ago I introduced my wife to smoking, which she enjoyed numerous times with me. We laughed and watched movies and videos, always a blast.

We have tried together a few different strains, some with mixed effects.

She suffers from anxiety so some highs really dont work with her. Its been now a year since she has smoked anything, she says its out of fear that she will have a bad high (Over thinking/thinking too deeply, anxiety attacks) I really enjoyed smoking with her, it was a really great bonding experience.

I am looking to pick up a few new strains with a good euphoric high, something that would make us laugh (very important) and give a good euphoric high without the anxiety issues of some more overpowering strains.

Any suggestions and help will be greatly appreciated! :D

I need 3 strains to finish my list.

So price isnt an issue, I want quality over quantity and I dont mind a 10 - 11 week flower cycle, but no longer than 11 weeks. THANK YOU!

If I were you I would be going for more of a downer indica high..the up sativa speedy head high is what causes overthinking/anxiety in my opinion and the indica high is more of a calming sedating high, but still has euphoria.good luck

All reports I've read suggest the number one weed for women is Kali Mist from Serious Seeds. Hobbes has done a couple of truly excellent write ups on it, single handedly moving it up to the top of my list next time I shop for seeds. Anyway, apparently no anxiety, euphoric clear headed high, good for menstrual cramps. Looong flower time though.

i have anxiety issues myself, and my 1st attempt at self medication with NL has worked fairly well
it really turns off the anxiety, and pretty much everything else, it's good for the evening, but too much for daytime use in my experience
i wouldn't describe it as 'high euphoria', more relaxing
i tend to think of the high euphoria types as falling in the sativa camp, which i have found to be risky for anxiety sufferers
but blueberry, bubblegum seem to have the rep for high euphoria, but are mostly indicas
the kali mist description mentioned previously does sound pretty good, but i haven't tried that one yet

I use for anxiety reasons sadly here in wa, I cannot receive a medical note. I have found indicas to be soothing. But I rarely find them around here it's usually 50/50 mix.

kali mist gave me anxiety the few times i smoked it i would not recomend that.and i am a smoker. i would recomend a heavy indica with high lvls of CBD in it. that is what keeps you sedated the most. euphoric types of ganja tend to give people more anxiety-ever smoke some haze,or cindy? stuff like that some people cant handle and thats what turns them off from smoking. maybe when she gets a little more used to smoking she can handle sativa effects but realisticly some people should not smoke it does not bennefit everyone. it sucks but that is realy the bottom line.

Strawberry Cough is by far the best anxiety reducing strain I've had, and it is an up strain so it allow you to do stuff while medicated. I have 4 dutch passion from seed flowering now, I would advise a clone from the original. Here are a few other suggestions people have made/I have found.

Kali Mist is like a relaxing opiate, another top shelf choice. I prefer Kali to Strawberry Cough but the guy I grow the SC for finds it better than Kali for anxiety.

As Sodalite said, Kali is strong and though relaxing it's strength can cause anxiety in the uninitiated.

Kali Mist - Serious Seeds

I've always had trouble getting strains to finish on time so taking on a 14 week strain was daunting for me, my KM clones usually finish about 16 weeks hydro/17 weeks soilless. It grows easily but stretches incredibly in hydro, I had a 1.5" clone that ended up close to 36". In soilless stretch is not so bad, but its still a sativa stretch. The buds are loose and airy in hydro and are so encrusted with trichomes that they seem that they would break if bent. The soilless buds are tighter and not as crusty. Fox farm liquids and solubles, hygrozome, Dark Energy, Liquid Karma, Kool Bloom, Overdrive.

The high is ... delicious. It's so beautiful and pleasant that I crave it more than the other strains and go through this strain at a record pace. It's a floaty dreamy high, like an up narcotic. Nothing maters, everything is OK. It reminds me of when I had my elbows operated on and got a hundred percocet with each operation. Like an opiate nothing is wrong, but I can do things, not just sit and look out the window. I use 2 of 12 spots in my garden for Kali Mist and I may add another two spots.

I find myself very forgeful high on Kali Mist, and I know it while I'm high and I don't care. Just now I'm keeping my dogs seperated because of an operation one had, the second dog got by me twice (under my desk - 3' wide hole) and I didn't notice for a half hour each time.

The smell and taste is a beautiful strong spice, I can smell it everytime I crack the jar, and I've had my nose broken a few times so I don't smell so good. But after a shower I can smell this stuff, very strong. After a 4 week hang/bag/cure vaporizing gives an incredibly smooth vapor, very thick Volcano bags with 1/3 level teaspoon.

This isn't a trippy or a knock out of reality high but it's very stong. I've read it described as a cutting high, right through other strains and moods, and I agree.

.

Spectrums of experience

Onset: fast effect or creeper. 1 fast/5 slow: 2

I've just taken 3 hits and can feel a tingle everywhere and pressure in the top of my head and ears.

.

1. Up (stimulating) and Down (sedative):
Neither.

Liven the disposition and stimulate the emotions: encourages a love of existance.
Inspiring sociability and talkativeness: You could stand just about anybody on this high.
Sedative and depressant effects: Chill but not sedative. If you want to do things you can, but you have to make a small initial effort to overcome inertia.

.

2. Head High / Body Stone: mostly head.

Energizing: Not energizing but not couch lock.
Motivating: Frees inhibition but there is inertia to overcome.
Couch lock: No, see above.

.

3. Tolerance: ability to provide the same experience via the same amount over time – the burnout factor. "Over time" means the long run: months, years, decades...

I've been vaping Kali Mist for 4 or 5 months and the high seems to be getting better, probably because I'm getting better at growing and curing it, but the high is better 4 months later. No chasing the Dragon.

.

4. Ceiling: How high (of far) one is capable of going with the variety. How many hits can be consumed until more hits are unnoticeable.

I notice a ceiling, but it takes a few Volcano bags.

.

5. Emotional State

Anxiety: melts anxiety, nothing is wrong.
Euphoria: not so much euphoria as bliss.
Calm: very calming
paranoia: reduces or eliminates paranoia.

.

6. Body - medicinal effects

Nausea: mild help
Pain: fair help
Seizures: not known
Back: fair help

.

7. Head - medicinal effects

Depression:
works like a dreamy opiate
Mania: calming
Anxiety: good help
Antisocial: you could tolerate anyone high on this strain.
Anger: calming.
Rage: From first hand experience, this strain has saved some lives. Medicinal help.

.

8. Duration short 1 2 3 4 5 long:
3

Two consecutive Volcano bags will last two hours.

.

9. Potency: weak 1 2 3 4 5 strong:
4. Hit's hard but not time loosing nor reality knocking out of. Cutting dreamy high.

.

10. Taste: SPICE

.

Overall just a great strain, if you've got room for a 14 week sativa and want a dreamy high I couldn't recomend Serious Kali Mist higher.

I've been supplying bud for myself and 3 others to treat symptoms for a mix of clinical depression, anxiety and mania. I'll list some of the strains I've tried and researched and a quick blurb on each. I find that different types of strains help at different times of the day, and for different intensities of sickness - it's good to have a couple of strains - a functional strain and a knockout of reality strain.

Depending on the type, duration and intensity of the depression some strains can start to lift you out in seconds. Other strains may leave some of the depression but give you a split mind where your intellect can examine the depression and the emotional pain without being effected itself. This can take some time if you're not already practicing this, it's a good way to remain relatively functional even during the worst of depressions.

Bubblegum - Serious Seeds: crystal clear euphoric high. Very potent but functional and clear. Tastes like pink bubblegum and icing sugar. A treat, I know it works because I go through it quick. (stimulating)

Kali Mist - Serious Seeds: an up-opiate; nothing is wrong; bliss; cuts through moods and other highs/stones; spice; my favorite strain (my pheno takes 18 weeks, some take 10 but will have different effects) (neither sedative nor stimulating, but you must overcome Bliss to move)

** Kali Mist is like being in the Nexus. From Star Trek the next generation movie where Kirk comes back to fight Sorun. Everything is so perfect you never want to leave, and if you're bending under the weight of clinical depression you'll do anything to get back.

The closest effect I can compare it to is the opiate stone from Percocet, except it's an up-opiate and there's no withdrawal. To cap it off you don't chase the dragon, you ride it. 2 years and the high just keeps getting better and better as I learn to grow and cure better.

I Can't recommend Kali Mist high enough but considering the long flowering period you may be better off starting with two shorter flowering strains and add Kali Mist as a third or later strain, once you have bud on hand. Tell your girlfriend that this strain is good for menstrual cramps. It won a Cannabis Cup with all women judges.

Kali Mist - Serious Seeds

Jilly Bean - MzJill (Subcool & TGA): High type-Happy, mood enhancing, humorous, energetic; Smells like orange skunk or tang/ Taste so much like Dreamcicles you will not believe it.; Extremely up beat and happy buzz great for depression and bad days. I got a pheno called "The Candy Store" - huge producer, potent and reeks of blue jelly beans. Like dripping syrup. (stimulating)

The Flav - Subcool (TGA): strong narcotic stone for when you have to check out; mangos. (sedative to the point of narcotic)

Querkle - Subcool (TGA): grape; high type- Indica head and grape taste make it total all day headstash.; smells: grapes, fruit, berries, musty; one of my favorite things to smoke out of a clean bong the flavor is just amazing and IMO better than Mom. (sedative)

Strawberry Cough - (Dutch Passion or preferably a clone from a dispensary): the best anxiety melting strain I've grown. The pheno I had was weak and tasted bad, but melted anxiety like steaming water on butter. I'm growing 4 more from seed to look for a good mother. People review it as a very potent high when you get a good pheno. (stimulating)

Flo - DJ Short: tastes like musky grapes; unique motivating high; my pheno is a very small producer but finishes right on 8 weeks - chopped yesterday at 55 days this run. If you need to get things done while being happy this is the strain. Small producer (uniquely motivating, a must have if you have trouble with motivation during depression)

Big Bang - Greenhouse: a mild sedative stone, sold in Dutch pharmacies for anxiety. (sedative)

You can get all of these strains from Attitude, they deliver world wide.

.

Endless Sky - Dr Greenthumb: Very very potent; super heavy indica stone; has a pheno that flowers in 6 weeks; 500 grams / meter square sog. A workhorse strain; great for getting lots of potent bud quickly. Doc is a great and time tested breeder but a touch expensive. Worth the money, any strain you see at Doc's place should be worth a grow. (sedative)

.

I've grown Super Strawberry Diesel by Elite, similar to Sag's Strawberry D-lite. It was a great strain but I found it weak. Strawberry Cough is a much better strain for anxiety.

.

Good luck with everything, if I can be of any help please contact me.

oh boy you opened a can of worms here---most strains will give you different effect but most are the same. I will explain. Most are a Sativa or Indica Blend or mix/cross. Done for better beefy buds that are drought resistant. Then there are the hobby names etc... The potency of the plant varies as well as the strain has effect on the body or head sorta. The real key to this stuff is the Tri's and Harvest. That is where experience and eye comes in. You must get a few grows under your belt to get the feel or know when to harvest for what. Some serious growers for Meds grow just one or two plants as described by an earlier thread (can't see and do not want to backspace) Rep+ later on that. You see the Harvest can decide on the buds head or body high---taste is captured in the drying and curing not to mention the final flushing. Grab any plant--- Indica is better for size constraint. Grow it and harvest the buds at diffent intervals of ripeness---it will seem like different weed. Also a Vaporizor is the key to using this drug. The temps either 10-15 degrees one way or the other has different effects too. I keep 4-6 strains for different times of the day and or tastes as I feel I get a tolerence to one strain Conversely.

this has been my quest for the last 12 months, it's a slow slog for a micro grower with anxiety
i've been looking over the reports on Mandala strains for the last week
multiple Mandala strains seem to have some use in this
i had been looking at the strawberry cough and bubblegum(like) strains
but i think these strains may be more hit or miss

so what effects will you get when you harvest early? what effect if you harvest later?

early usually means edgy, or edgier - the harvest window makes a big difference
i took some bud way into amber, 16+ weeks of flower - edgy long gone, good for sleep, but not good for staying awake
