Have I topped too early?

This is my first plant, ever. I have done so much research, my knowledge of marijuana spiked way up, but still, I was wondering if I topped my plant too early. It's been a couple of days since I did it, but no new growth. Maybe I did it wrong or haven't waited long enough, but I did my best to follow instructions on how to top a plant. The "Y" has not shown any sign of starting. The plant itself looks healthy, I think, but the very top part of the top itself, turned dark/brown shortly after I pinched it. I am assuming that it is supposed to do that cause of the healing process... It's an indoor grow with cfl's, everything is how it should be (temp, humidity, the right cfl's, etc.). The plant just turned a month old, today. Also, does it look like it's growing right for it only being a month old? Any help would be great, thanks! If I screwed it up, I guess I will just start over. -MF

they will be alright, How early u top em all depends on how tall you want your finished plant to get. Just give em some more time

perhaps the plant has been using most of its nutes for new growth at the top of the plant and that why it looks like it does. are you using any nutes on the plants now? i usually top mine at about that size but i've seen the new growth take as long as a week and a half before it was showing the actual growth. gimme more details... nutes? watering schedule? lights?

I have not used any nutes, completely natural. I only water with room temp clean water when the top soil is dry. I planted the germinated seed in this pot. Right now, I use four 6500k cfl's for vegging with the light cycle 16 on\8 off. I also have two huge 2700k cfl's to use for flowering whenever that starts.

Actually, I have a question about that too... Should I just add the 2700k cfl's to the grow when I start flowering, or add them in and take out a couple of the 6500k cfl's when I start flowering, or have the 2700k and the 6500k cfl's together for the whole grow? Is there a method for that? It's kind of confusing.

every things fine, you don't want tall plants for a cfl grow, I top at the 4th node unless I'm growing the top for a clone mother then I let it get to 7 and cut back above the 4th.

I'd just add more lights in the 2700 K spectrum for flowering, you want to throw every watt of light you can scrape up when flowering. More light = more buds.

i would say the reason they are growing slow is lack of nutes but when u top a plant when its young they can take a while to start growing again. and i would imagin with lack of nutes the plant will take longer to recover due to it not having the stuff to help it heal. dont know exactly though without seeing them. so dont take it as gospel

I'm so new to growing that I don't know how to use nutes or what to get. That's the only reason why I haven't used any. I wish someone could show me instead of having to read it and attempt. I get nervous about it because I don't want to screw it up. I mean, it's only one plant for my first grow and it could still turn out to be a male or herm, but I just want it to work out perfectly! This is kind of funny too because I care for the plant so much, that my girl is gettin' jealous... HAHA! I could only imagine how it'll be when I get multiple plants going...

im hearing ya, my ex chpped my last crop ive only just got over it and started a new one. my new girlfriend is well interested so im all good now. with regards to nute mate every1 will tell you different things but i found a good rule is to look at the NPK level you find this on all nute bottles if you dont understand then just read a bit but while its vegging or growing leaf you need to be getting something with a higher N level eg nitrogen. and lover P and K levels. ive gone as high as N19. P4. K4. but you dont want that it needs watering down loads. a good one is N4 P1 K1 but as long as the N is higher you should be ok. then you see how much to add on the bottle stick to it maybe even put less in. water your plants and wait a few days if they are light green add a tiny bit more nute, water and wait again keep doing this untill the leaves are a nice green colour the same as a ripe lime if you put to much in they will go real dark and you will burn them. little is more with nutes mate sorry for the longevity of my reply but its one of the only things i understand fully cos ive fucked loads of plants learning. but you learn more everytime dont overcomplicate things either you can do to much.
