Had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled and woke up from the tugging and saw all the blood.
I totally freaked.

I suggest getting put under also.

I did not like the experience at all.

Sounds like you probably won't need to get it done yet in which case you can relax for a while. If you do, expect pain but you will live, go under and get them all out if you can.

Getting them pulled awake can be painful depending on your bone structure and the skill level of your dentist - 3 of mine took 2hrs each and all the numbing needles I was allowed, the other was pulled by a good dentist with a strong arm (a male dentist this time) and was out in 25min. The procedure involves drilling (nothing to worry about), pulling and twisting (considerable pressure and some deep nerve pain, and sometimes cutting the gums (doesn't hurt). you will be sore after so get some good strong pain killers - and take 1 before you go.

don't stress too much. good luck.

Yes get them all done at once and get someone who KNOWS what they are doing. I did not like the dentist who did my wisdom teeth at all. He was a miserable SOB.

Yes done right with the proper meds it can go quite well. I have heard many people say that it was no big deal. Its just that the people who don't have the same experience are more apt to comment I think.

Good luck :)

it's really not bad. it's more morbid then anything. just the thought of what they are doing grosses me out. they basically ripped my teeth out. i have issues with things like that. "the thought of what's really going on." i can't watch these true life Dr shows. i can't imagine "cutting' into someone. that's just not right. "here, let me lay you open and fix you." whatever.

i am the same way, but i have managed to watch some of the cosmetic surgery shows... i find it amazing how nonchalant the doctors are about what they are actually doing, as opposed to what they call it.... "now we remove the nipple with the "cookie cutter".." wtf!!?

just the thought makes my testicles curl up inside me. they're scared.

No they inject novacaine into your gums, you dont go to sleep.

They given me 2 appointments because i had to have 4 teeth out.

In the first i had one injection in the roof of my mouth, one on the side and one at the bottom. then they pull the teeth out and this happened both times.
I had my wisdom teeth pulled out and the worst part is the injections and the soreness after.
I Would recommend getting really really high before it and make sure your mouth is wet because on the first one it hurt like a bitch cos my mouth was dry so drink lits of water before it.

Have fun :joint:

yes!!
you dont know what you're talking about except from YOUR experience!

to poster: go to an oral surgeon. get all 4 pulled under anesthesia. your insurance if you have it should cover most of it except possibly the anesthesia, but its not that expensive and SO WORTH IT!!

I was under for mine.

i went in today and they told me that i have to go to medquest on oahu to get them checked, and than go back to oahu to get just 1 pulled. (i live on maui).
they also told me that i can be under anesthesia, so im not as worried now. all this will happen in at least a month so i have a lot of time.

i just hope the pain in the wisdom tooth thats coming out now wont hurt during my vacation in a few weeks.

oh yeah they told me that i have 1 impacted, and the other three look to be coming in just fine. (the one that is impacted is the one thats coming out now)

im stressing alot less now, gonna go load a bowl.

thanks for all the comfort guys

just have all 4 pulled. its really a lot better if you just have them all done at the same time instead of making 10 trips for checkups and consults and then pulling new ones. I'd just tell them to remove all of them. essentially.... if they do come in they will most likely only cause problems by pushing your teeth forward and causing crooked teeth. unless you have some crazy large mouth or something.

I would definitely let them know you'd want them all pulled. Im glad i did because I would hate to go in 4 times! :)

Good to hear buddy! I had 3 of mine pulled since they were impacted and being put under was my route. Funny thing is when I woke up (of course I was out of it), the dental assistant was trying to ask me how I was? I gave her a thumbs up and kept trying to talk to her. She gave me a pen and piece of paper.....I wrote "When can I have a beer?" in complete chicken scratch. Haha, it had my wife and the rest of the office there laughing.

they gave me happy pills to calm my nerves before i went in. (VALIUM I LOVE YOU!!) and i guess on the way to the operation i said something like "now i know how jesus feels" because i was so hungry since i couldnt eat for like 15 hours or some crap. Im really not sure how it related to jesus since i'm not religious and i dont know much about that crap, but it was funny when they told me later!

I had all 4 done at once. here is what I remember.

I was knocked out for the procedure. I woke up after having the teeth pulled and remember feeling fucked up as hell...in a good way. I could only stay awake for a couple seconds at a time. Then i had to walk out to the car, and i wal like falling over people as I walked out through the waiting room. Get home, pass out, miss my first dosage of hydrocodiene. I woke up a couple hours later and tried to eat some raman noodles, but the pain was just too much so I took some pills and passed out. As long as I took the pain killers I was fine. after about 3 days I didnt need the pills anymore
