One time when I went the guy running the meeting confessed to have had some drinks. Everyone acted like he was some kind of a hero for coming clean about it. I was thinking "Why is this drunk running the meeting?" Then the damn coffee. It's like they traded one vice for different ones as they were all drinking so much coffee that they were hyped up like they were on meth. They had pots brewing constantly. And when they took a short break most went outside and chain smoked. What really irked me was all the cigarette butts they just tossed on the ground. Bunch of slobs. It is like a cult. I couldn't imagine going to that kind of support group regularly. If it was some kind of court ordered stuff I'd tell them to give a week in jail instead.

I'm sure it's helped some stay sober but from what I saw most were just there because they got in trouble for something and likely stopped at 7-Eleven to get a six pack on the way home from the meeting.

And they feed on the noobs when they really don’t give a crap about anyone not sober for at least a year.

I’ve been to adult and juvenile rehabs all are the same shit. It’s about the money of course life is okay and safe in a safe place but they are detached from reality in the way they treat people and the tools they call them to deal with real life issues. I was in one place we had 408 people on three floors divided in to 3 groups on a daily basis it was a joke as was most of what they said as most didn’t live the values they preached. I know for some people staying sober is a very real challenge and for some they need a lot more than just the desire to stay sober to actually do it but i disagree with how rehabs, courts , NA and AA shove they’re views and beliefs down your throat. Just because you skinned that cat don’t mean it’s the only way.
