Have you owned a business/company?

Is it Obama specifically? That would be kinda racist.
Is it because he is a Democrat? That would be unpatriotic.
He doesn't love America the same way I do. Race and party lines have nothing to do with it

A playing field that is level. Or a playing field not imbalanced.
Haha. Very funny. Now put it in Bernie context for me

That's why we change the MINIMUM WAGE laws among others, so everyone gets a level playing field. As it stands, Walmart gets massive subsidies not available to small business. This is criminal.
That is because walmart provides 10,000 times the economic impact of a mom and pop shop.

And if it is criminal, it is criminal because the politicians allowed it.

You understand they're in business together, yes? It is a symbiotic relationship that benefits both politicians and business leaders. One side is saying both are a problem, they're both working together against American citizens interests, you are saying only the politicians are a problem, and only the democratic ones..

The excuse that "they didn't do anything illegal" when bankers devastate the global economy, for example, isn't a justification for their behavior. It doesn't have to be illegal, there doesn't have to be a law against it, for something to be objectively bad, and those that do bad things need to be held accountable regardless of if any laws were broken and the system itself that allowed it to happen needs to be changed so it can't happen again. Both politicians, those that make the rules of how the system works, and business leaders, those that mold and manipulate those rules to extract higher and higher returns, should be held accountable for the state of the American economy.

Lol, you completely forget that if EVERYONE is paying the higher wage, you'll continue to get customers at the higher price- what, 5%?- because they'll also continue to be able to afford it. You'll likely get many more customers than it takes to merely offset the difference.

Unless you begrudge people the ability to actually LIVE on their wages, surely you can find a way to absorb a 5% increase in total cost?

I'm sorry, but this basically selfish attitude is at the heart of the 'tragedy of the Commons' our society is currently suffering through. It's only in YOUR self interest to underpay your workers but since everyone is doing so, it's an aggregate brake on the economy.
lol you completely forget that if EVERYONE is paying the higher wage, the price of everything will only go up. The problem is the cost of living. No one is saying anything about the cost of living being unchecked, America is full of greed greed greed.
and where did you pull this 5%, just out of thin air? I still have to pay water, electric, wages...etc. Do you think these will stay the same. Hell no. The electric company will charge more because they now have to pay higher wages ( although solar does help in this area ). Ditto for water. Ditto for everything else. After all is said and done guess what I will be forced to do. raise my prices. So again the problem is the cost of living and greed in America.

Average car loan: $200/month
Average car insurance: $60/month
Average cell phone: $60/month
Average food bill: $400/month
Average rent: $800/month
Average utilities (including basic cable + internet): $300/month
Total of above: $1820/month
And that just for a single person living alone. And that's just the basics.

Working 40 hours a week at $11/hour = $440 - $70 taxes = $370 * 4 = $1480/month

No, $11/hour is not enough.

If you have little to no skills to offer the world, then you might have to work more than 40 a week.

Whats next, 4 day work week? I mean, the dentist gets to so why not the rest of us! I showed up to work the same as he/she did, pay me!

Im not saying "unskilled" laborers should get dentist money. I'm saying "unskilled" laborers should earn enough to not always be in fear of running out of money all the time.

But not if they work 39 hours a week? When all businesses start capping hours at 38.5 are you gonna drop the limit to 30 hours a week? How about when they drop it to 20 hours? How low do you want to go??

You keep demanding people get paid more money without explaining where it is going to come from. Most businesses operate on a very small profit margin relative to sales and expenses. A 5% margin is pretty good. Labor costs are one of the biggest expenses in a business. You propose to double them. Well, the business profit margin is nowhere near large enough to cover that.

So, what you are demanding is to pay more for every good and service in America. You want to drive the cost of living up for everyone, the rich and the poor. The rich wont care, the poor will not be any better off.

The rich are not paying minimum wages to anyone but maybe the housekeeper. You are not going to hurt them with this bullshit. You hurt every small business out there competing with corporate america however.

So, cut off your nose to spite your face. Force jobs to become so expensive they are harder to find at whatever wage. Push mom & pop businesses out of business due to labor costs. Megacorps can afford to offshore jobs, your local soda joint cannot. They will just go out of business.

You cannot force these things to happen. If you put too much pressure on Corporations they can just leave the country entirely.

The way to economic prosperity is to stop attacking the rich, the corporations and every other person out there able to create a job.

Have you heard about Oregon rising the min wage to almost 15.00 over the next few years? That will be the highest in the nation. The liberals in your state will follow suit and you will no doubt have to raise to cost of washing laundry. How much more do you think you will have to charge to wash and dry at 15.00 an hour? TRUMP!
