Hey all!

What a great time to be back here on RIU, missed this place!

Anyways, I have a 1000HPS/MH light that I use for veggie plants, but I'm looking to grow a few greener plants now.

I have been out of the game for a long time, so my questions is

Where is the best place to get seeds online?

How many plants could I grow under one light?

Do most people use soil these days or hydroponics?

I have soil in my garden bed from last year, which was some high grade soil. It sat in the bed over winter, could I use this soil again or is the soil no good?

I'll be on this forum for the rest of the evening researching as well, just figured I'd ask these questions for some quick responses.

USA based.

thanks all!

I know a lot of people will recommend gorilla seeds as they are a great sponsor of RIU and if you pm them will often give member only discount codes. I personally have ordered seeds from Herbies with good success in the USA. However, I feel a lot of it is personal choice, and all have the risk of being seized entering the country. I would focus on those that have good customer service reviews, as far as replying to shipping issues ect. So many out there it's more so person preference and if they have what your looking for.

Can't really help too much on the other questions as I'm a first time grower, but under 1000w you could grow 1 or 2 monster scrogs or you could do a much higher plant count of SOG , just a matter of preference and time you have available to veg.

As a first time grower, I have used a soil mix as from my research shows that soil can be more forgiving for a first timer like myself vs hydro. However, hydro does seem to have some major perks as well.

Sorry I wasn't more help! Good luck with your grows!

There are getting to be as many different vendors as their are breeders...get a few suggestions...mine would be the Single Seed Center...and then check reviews, price, selection, shipping rates etcetera. Then make an informed choice.

As for how many under 1 1000w bulb...that depends on a lot of variables. Space, ventilation, sativa or indica and other genetic choices, photperiod or auto, training method if any you want to use etc. best way for you to get infor for those choices and more is to read and learn.

It does not matter what 'most people' do... hydro, soil, soilless etc. It is all about how you want to do it. So with that said I will end with my copied and pasted Welcome posting! LOL! I try to intro myself to a lot of newbies and I don't like typing..LOL!! :peace:

Welcome to RIU, and the wonderful world of cultivating the world's most misunderstood and feared medicines!!!

The only 'advice' I can give you or anyone is to read and learn and then apply what you have read and learned to your garden and you cannot fail. Anyways, remember the search tool is your friend...Lots of folks here willing to help a new farmer get up and growing. But at the end of the day your grow will be only as good as the knowledge and work you put into it.

It is always great to ask questions but do not take anyone's advice or opinions and follow blindly. Do your own research, you will be much happier knowing you have done it for yourself and by yourself. The first buzz you get from your own budz...is by far the BEST high you will ever have!
