Head room problem

my problem is this...plant looks good so far...but im running out of head room...the plant itself is around 3 feet tall :s started flowering at 24. As of this past saturday, i am starting my second week of flower time. The closet im in is just at 7ft tall ceiling. Now i can move the light up about another 12 inches if im lucky, but at the rate she is growing, im afraid its still will not be enough. She has a healthy stalk to her so bending her over at this stage is almost out of the question i would think. But being my first legit grow, what do i know..lol.... So i am wondering, if i shove the plant against the wall and hang the light off to the side at an angle, will she still do fine with the back of her up against the wall ? here lately she has been growing about 1 inch per day...but in first week of flowering, she went 12 inches..so just over 1inch a day i guess. Any tips, helpful suggestions are greatly appreciated . Thanks

you have a 7 foot ceiling and the plant is only 3 ft tall.....but you can only move the light up another foot? What is your set up like?

well i know the math doesnt work out right..lol...and i started to post again explaining...yeah plant is 3feet...pot is approximately 12 inches tall or there abouts...so im up to 4 feet...there is a wire shelf that the light currently hangs from and inorder to keep the 400w hps 18inches away, i would have to take out the shelf and then relocate a surface mounted exhaust fan and duct work...poor planning on my behalf...i should have never tried to keep up with my friends plant..lol...but im afraid that if i just move the shelf and the fan and duct work then im still going to wind up short of head room...does that make any sense ? ...i really dont want to move the fan and shelf for that matter and god knows the mrs. wont let me put another hole in the ceiling for exhaust. So for now i gently placed...not really shoving the plant around...her up against the wall and arranged the branches and tops of branches so they could get some light to the lower ones. i also have two small clones who are trying their hardest to catch up to the mother plant in height. And thats mostly due to one light and the clones strecthing for the light...dont care really too much bout the clones other than i would like to keep one to stick outdoors in april.

by headroom im including the 18inch space i need from the top of the plant to the lamp itself into that...so realistically, the plant could go another 12 to 16 inches before it gets too close to the light or there abouts. so from ground up i can only go 5 and half feet making the plant 4 and half feet tall...i think...its 530 a.m. so my numbers could be off as im still tired as hell...lol

now dont misunderstand me...i honestly do not expect her to get to 7 feet tall..or 6 for that matter...since its my first legit grow im not real sure how much she will grow throughout the flowering process...i read some plants can double in size in flowering stage so i thought by flowering it at 24inches would leave me enough room, but now its gone almost 12 inches give or take a couple inches in just week one of flowering. thats what has me nervous....how much more will it go before she focuses more on flowering than growing ?

and one more small thing....before i pulled the light off to the side and pushed against the wall, the light was as tight to the shelf as i could get it....and i had approximately 16-18 inches of space between lamp and plant.....and only have about 10 inches or so above the shelf before i hit the exhaust fan and duct.

If you started flower @24" then expect it to grow to approx 5'. You'll see the most explosive verticle growth during the first 3 weeks of flower then it will slow down and just about halt. Thats when your buds will start to fatten up :hump:

If you do that back of the wall trick, your plants will just continue to grow towards the light. I dont know if its worth the trouble or not.

Are you using a cool tube?

dont want to top it at all.....actually i tried something yesterday...left the wire shelf up and put the light as tight to the ceiling as i could...which is actually 4 inches below the ceiling due to the exhaust fan...but the coating on the wire shelf seems to be holding up to the heat off the lamp and as an added precautionary measure, i ran the fan with lights on and now ive got the 400watt hps approximately 24 inches...sucks to make it so far away but really since i dont want to top it, its all i could do...also did pull her back off the wall....so hopefully she starts slowing down quickly so i can keep the light over top of her. Thanks for all the suggestions as they are always greatly appreciated
