heat issues with police helicopters

i have been thinking about starting a grow and doing my research so i get it right the first time but i cant help think about what would happen if the helicopter detected a grow by thermal imaging. i always have helicopters over my house and in the area.

i have heard about this but dont know if its actually true. i will only be using a 400w hps in a grow tent that is vented.

please give your views and hopefully put my worries to rest :D

Flir isnt going to see your room, it would see the heat from the exhaust if you were venting out the window or something, but if you're venting to another room or just recirculating, you're good to go man.

Are you sure about that? I've remember reading about a guy in Texas who had his house raided because police had used FLIR to illegally look inside his house and they saw HID lighting. They go in and make the raid and it was a saltwater aquarium. I'll look for the article.

I saw some stills from a flir camera one time of a grow house that got busted. It was an entire basement operation in detroit. You couldn't see the actual lights, just lots of heat radiating from the basement windows in the middle of the michigan winter, but that wasn't enough for a search warrant, but that along with the fact that you could smell weed out on the street was, plus the neighbors said there was some shady stuff going on at the house. I wouldnt worry about helicopters finding your 400 watter. Keep your mouth shut, keep your smell under control, dont act suspicious and you will be fine. Dont throw out incriminating stuff in your trash either. I had a friend get busted from that
Do you really live in the uk quigs? I though they were pretty cool about weed over there. How do all of the seed banks operate from there if they are flying around in helicopters trying to bust growers?

Yeah I watched some video in a grow torrent called, don't get busted. He talks about FliR a lot and what it can and cannot do.

yes i do live in the uk. and it is relaxed but i wouldnt like to take the chance of getting caught as there is always police helicopters in the area. i dont know why they fly over but i wanted to be safe about it.

if I'm remembering physics classes properly, I believe IR radiates through solids, with some being absorbed by the medium it travels through (for isntance IR is used to peer through the material obscuring the galactic center of the milky way). It can't look into your house, but it can detect the radiation coming from walls and such. Basically it's measuring the heat being radiated through your walls and windows. It can be controlled by preventing heat from radiating to the outside. In the US it is currently illegal to IR profile a residence without a search warrant. There are commercial products to prevent heat exchange, and any DIY system to remove heat from outside walls will prevent this as well. Keep in mind that you also have to be growing enough for leo to care. Things like odor and such have always been more an issue in my mind. If you're growing for personal, it's your neighbors caring that will more likely bring the authorities to your door (this includes anonymous tips, keep quiet damnit! :D). If you have a larger operation I'd just use interior rooms for grow and vent, and ensure that the rest of the house stays a consistent temp that would be similar to what your neighbors temps would be.

the seed banks in the uk are allowed to operate because the seeds are sold as souvenirs lol its a strange one to me, there is programes on the tv about drugs busts and in one of them they are in the helicopter and they said that the camera use was made to find broken electricity cables in the ground lol

im in the uk i carnt be arsed to google n copy paste loads of shpill bout flir cams etc all i will say is i and a few others have run 2x even 3x your 400 for many yrs now without ne probs, venting to another room or newhere INSIDE the house is a good idea yeah but seen people get away with venting it out many many times.

most countys dont even have flir cams but borrow them from other police countys and electric companys, and most of the time you hear a chopper its chasing some smackhead ina stolen car whilst filming it for road wars not hunting out 400watt lights lol
