Heat need help

My plants are 2 weeks old and look good but they are 1 inch tall for 2 weeks.

Heat problem and since I can't go back to work till the end of the year I have no money to spend.

While I was getting ready to take down the grow room I noticed that it would be easy to controll the temp at night. What a brain fart.

What I need to know is that when the lights are off my temp will be 90 - 95
I think. Will that be too high for while they are a sleep.

Way too hot. You should aim for low 70s but anywhere from 65-80 would be fine. My questions are: 1.) What's your lighting system and what are the dimensions of your grow room? 2.) How hot does it get when the lights are on? 3.) Do you have any sort of cooling system in place?

When I started growing I used a lamp that was way too big for the room I was growing in and the plants lived at high 80s when the light was on and mid 70s when the light was off. After about 3 weeks (even with two fans on constantly) evidence of heat stress emerged and I had to change my lighting system. I can only imagine what mid-90 degree temperatures at night would do to a plant.

I'm broke and every thing I got is screwed. I'll be damned if I'm going to stop. I think I got the bug. I only started growing because I couldn't afford any more cheap ass bag shit. Now I got the grow bug and love it.

I have 450W HPS from work. Vertical mount not good so I built a horizontal mount out of wood. It's 3' x 4' and lowered to 18" above the plants.

The room is 3' x 4' x 7' with a 6" 294cfm exhaust fan in the ceiling with duct to the out side. I also have the same fan blowing air from the office into the grow room. Office temp is 75 grow room temp 90 - 95. I couldn't get it down even with the fans running. From reading your post I think I know why.

The hood is the same size as my grow room and with the hood lowered my grow area is 3' x 3' x 4' and the hood is blocking the air flow. Duhhhhh I have been disabled since Sept 06 and I'm not adjusting well as you can see.

Here is my new plan; Please pick it a part.

1 cut hood down to 1/2 size of room
2 grow at night
3 add small fan to hood ( where would be good place? )
4 cut 3" hole in grow room to house and add fan to pull cool air when needed

Thank You

Good news

While I was taking down my grow closet the temp dropped and I got a new inch of growth. So I think my chronic is still safe.

I'm totally confused. Hi also.lol You have a 3' by 3' light hood? If so don't cut it. You will ruin the reflective pattern and could lose a lot of reflected light. To use that 450watt light in that size room you will want to air cool the light. Do number 4 right away, depending on the outside air temperature, that may solve the problem. Growing at night may help if the outside air temperature is high during the day and a no cost option. Keep in mind you will have a 18 hour lights on cycle. Venting the hood may be as simply as cutting a whole in plastic and mounting an old computer fan. A pic of the fixture may help. VV

VV thanks It worked

I put a 3" computer fan in the hood. In the hot part of the day I dropped to 81 deg F It's cooling down now and my temp is at 78 deg F. My plants have already started growing again.

It will be easier for me to control the temp if I grow at night.

I also have a problem i have a 600 w hps and my room's temp is in the mid 90. But it is air cooled. I have upgraded the fan to a 175 CFm Centrifugal. My room is 3x5x10 is that too much light
