heat problem?

Hello fellas. Im having a heat problem in my grow tent and will really appreciate it if someone helps me. Okay so i have a 36x20x62 grow tent with a 400w mh in it. WHen the light is off its around 78F. But when i turn the light it stays constantly at 95.7F. Ive done everything i can and see no difference in the temp. I have two 4" 175cfm oracle inline fans one for fresh air intake and one for exhaust. i even run the light at night and have a 20" fan blowing at the plants. Is the tent too small or if i make a bigger grow box will the temps be the same? IF i do need a bigger box how big will it need to be for just 1 plant? Thanks in advance.!

You need more fresh air in & remove more hot air plus get a hood that you can remove the hot air from that as well

I am using something a little bigger & I am using a 165 & 180 cfm for cleaning the air via carbon filter & one for the hood of my light

I used inline fans but found them to be not effective enough for what I was trying to do and that's what it sounds like to me

You can keep the current fans where they are just unplug them or replace with pipe altogether

what is your intake temps? If it's 78 in there with the lights off, you would have to be moving some serious air to keep it under 85 as I am assuming you are not running an air cooled hood considering the temps you are reading.

what type of hood do you have? if you don't have an air-cooled hood, you aren't going to be able to cool them with the smaller fans and a high intake charge.

If you made your box bigger and made no changes to your equipment or intake charge, your problem would only get worse.



Suggestions: you said you have two fans, one for exhaust and one for intake. make yourself a passive intake instead then use the exhaust fan to be the fan that air cools your 400watter (get a air cooled hood and a little duct work to do this). You would have much better cooling power with your light being air cooled. Then if you intake temps are still a little to high, use the old intake fan as an exhaust fan, cut another passive intake hole and that should take care of your problem. Items needed would be a little ducting, air cooled hood and maybe some duct tape.

I just don't see you getting your temps anywhere near where you need them without sealing that exhaust system.

70's to mid and lower 60's out side and mid to upper 70's and mid 80s sometimes inside, I also run the lights at night when it cools down

my temps with the lights off is 78F. with no air circulation. but at soon as i turn on the light along with all the fans the temp. is in the low to mids 90s. Yes im going to start looking in to buying an air cooled hood but i currently have the cheap aluminnum reflector. i was asking about a bigger space because the reflector barely fits and thought it would help. thanks for the advice im gonna start making changes asap.

i put my hand above the plants and if u feel heat but its not like uncomfortable or burning then ur good.My temps are like 80-85 when day,and yea like 75-78 when sleeping.I keep a fan blowing on them 24/7 not only for air circulation but stem strength and temp control.

Do u leave one fan on 24/7?? all fans??

u sound like ur doing almost everything u can...if its real hot in ther,make sure humidity is good.spray down ur plants to kool them off.ur intake and exhaust is better then my setup soo ur frest air should b helping.as long as air is moving.

I agree with switching your 1 intake so you have 2 exhausts and then make a passive. Keep in mind the passive hole has to be around double the size of the exhaust holes, from what I've experienced in my little cab.. The air cooled hood would obviously help too!
