Ok so I have 6 ~100w CFL bulbs going on 2 plants right now. The plants are doing great, unfortunately my closet temps just jumped into the mid 80s. Its a decent sized closet (I'd say 6 feet by 3 feet and a full 8 feet high). I really don't know where the hell this heat is coming from. Even worse I don't know how to get rid of it. I keep the closet door open whenever I am home but I work 8 hours a day 6 days a week. I have a remote thermometer that shows the closet reaches about 88 by mid-day. Is this bad for the plants? How can I manage this heat? I thought CFLs where suppose to be low-heat. I have a fan going on them but that doesn't do anything but blow the hot air around... any advice?

well im surethe temps outside r contributing to the problem,right?theres not much u can do to control outside temps.exaust maybe,i think that could help drop a few...what state?

My entire grow has been in the mid-eighties and things are fine. Maybe not ideal, but I dont think mid-eighties will give you too much trouble.

They are low heat compared to a 600w HPS/MH. Put a fan on them if you can. Vent the air if you can. Yes they will survive but they are going to have to devote resources to protecting from the heat. They will drink more too. If you cant cure the heat problem, dial down your nutrients too. They will drink more but not be able to process all the dissolved solids creating a toxic build up.

Yeah with the closet sealed up the oscillating fan will do nothing but blow the stagnant air around. What you need is some type of ventilation (ie. an exhaust fan + a hole for a intake or maybe another fan), this will drop your temps. Personally i run a intake fan, oscillating fan, and exhaust fan and keep my closet sealed off all the time. This keeps my small closet cool with my 400w hps in there and also provides a steady supply of fresh air for the plants. They need fresh air if you want them to grow fast and be healthy, fresh air is important.
