Heating my seeds

Hi. I live in California and I've been working on germanating some seeds this month. I thought I could just stick themin the window and let mother nature take her course. It's been so cold here I couldn't get them to do anything. My friend suggested to throw a blanket over top of the seed bed and lights and to put capped jugs of hot water in with them to heat up the area.

This totally worked!! They are up and poking their little heads up looking for the light. Yeah! I'm making sure the temp stays at least 74 degrees.

Just thought I'd pass that one on.

I saw when I got my seed starter thing with the plastic hood, that they had seed starters with warming pads but I'm such a poorling I'm trying to do this the best I can with limited funds. I want to make some mother plants out of these I'm doing now so time will tell. Hopefully I won't need one next time.
