i've got a couple plots of plants the largest one having 5 plants. its in a area of thick vegitation n i no the helicopter is going to see it go from all green to a dirt patch with a plant growing up. we have helicopters for 2 weeks in my area. my question is will they even bother stopping for 5 plants? i live out in the country where people are growing retarded amounts of pot.

There's always the chance of your plants being found.
Just don't be around when the copters are flying around. Don't be seen! Hike with a fishing pole or camera to give you a resonable excuse...fishing or wildlife photography.

Here they scout possibles grows and wait till taking them will hurt the most...harvest time...
Just don't make trails..take a different route/time there... leave NO garbage.... and if in pots move them around a bit..may help by taking any markers away....
luck.

because of the economy most jurisdictions havent been flying with flir. its costly. there is one thing though. the helicopter here for this county has to be flown 15 mins every day. the helicopter has a search light on it and it must be turned on everyday. so when you see them flying the same path everyday it could be that. you wont see the light cuz the flaps are closed but its on underneath it. i learned that in jail. i seen the heli take off everyday and living in a small town i wonder why they flew so much so i asked around and one of the guards at the jail told me.

Be very careful, that's really the only advice anyone can give you. There's a great video that you can find online called "Never get busted", and it talks about outdoor growing and how to cover your tracks so if the cops find your plants, they don't find YOU, too. Simple things like covering the soles of your shoes with tape so you don't leave footprints (a footprint can convict you), not leaving nute containers or water containers lying around near the grow (fingerprints). Also the way you place your plants can give you away. If you plant more than one, don't put them in neat rows or patterns because plants don't grow this way on their own in nature, and it makes a cannabis grow much easier to spot from the air.

The most important thing to remember is that if the cops find your spot and tear down your plants - don't go back! Take some binoculars with you when you hike out there, and take a look from a few hundred yards or as far away as possible. If your plants look like they've been trashed, just keep on walking and don't ever go back. I know it's tempting to go check on them and see if anything is salvageable, but the cops could be watching for the grower (you) to come back so they can arrest him (you).

Plenty of people get away with growing cannabis right out in the open, but plenty of people get busted, too. Don't be one of those that gets busted!

Good luck

Technically, the cops need a search warrant to use FLIR on your home. Unfortunately, there are cops who will lie to obtain a search warrant so they can use FLIR.

FLIR won't detect an outdoor grow. It also won't detect an indoor grow unless you're venting hot air out of your grow room directly to the outside.

Around here they sit on plots every so often hoping to get lucky, but if a lot of weed is growing in the local they just do a pull & bag job, they don't have the time or manpower to survey every grow.
A little trick I use to see if trails in or out are being used is to take some fine copper wire, the kind you find in small electric motors,& stretch it across the trails about chest high. Allmost invisible if you'r not looking for it.Put it about a 100 yards from the plot & then about 200 yds out, makes a nice security zone around your s-it & keeps you far enough away to give a head start in case you got to haul ass all of a sudden like!

You only have to worry about that if you're growing indoors, and pumping heat out of the grow room to the outside. An indoor cannabis grow isn't visible to FLIR unless you're venting out hot air directly outdoors.

Growing outdoors this isn't a problem, but the plants themselves can be seen from a helicopter (especially if you plant a straight row of plants out in the middle of the wilderness)

thanks for the suggestions. i think i should be good. cutting down my visits so the paths arent so noticable and if they find them they find them i guess. i got 2 other patches with only 2 in each that i am not worried about them finding. so i should end the season with some harvest at least
