Hey guys,
So im planning my first grow for a while now. But i cant decide which HPS Setup i should choose, because of my Closet. So my Question is Does a 150W HPS does produce as much heat as a 250W HPS? My closet is something like 2 Feet x 2 Feet Height im not pretty sure :/

Guys could you please help me out?

that is a really small area for a hps lamp, even a 150. If you go that route make sure it's well vented or it could cause some real issues. I would look at alternative lighting (CFL or LED) that produces way (seriously dramatically) less heat.

The higher the wattage the more heat it puts out in the same technology.

You didn't give proper dimensions for your grow space...you only gave two numbers...are you talking 2'x2'x2' length x depth x height? If so thats pretty constricted on height and you'll be battling heat issues like a mofo with an HPS unless its in a cooltube and done properly...but even then you'll only be able to have plants that are like 10-12" tall...so you might be better off looking into either getting a little more height, or scrogging the shit out of the plants to keep them low

What would be good dimensions for a 150W HPS or even 250W?

I have a cabinet that is 20"x20"x36"high with a 150 watt hps in it. The 150 works good for the space, but heat is a big issue. In the summer the temps get above 90, and thats with 4 5" computer fans for intake and exhaust. A 250 would be too much heat for that space unless I made a cool tube for it.

By the way, My 150 is an all in one unit with the ballast and bulb in the same housing. I don't think they make any other kind. They make 250' s that have a remote ballast, so you can put the ballast outside of the cabinet and put the bulb in a cool tube to keep heat down.

Whatever you go with, a space only 2' tall is going to give you problems. I have to do alot of work to keep my plants short to grow them in a 3' tall space.

look into growing autos with cfl or if you have the money to invest a good led light (do research and don't buy a cheap one if you go this route!). Autos are made for small space stealth grows and you can control the final height of the plant by using a smaller pot size. They'll get big if you do em right in a 3 or 5 gal pot but if you want to keep them small use a 1 or 2 gal - should be right for your dimensions.

trust me in your space, any HPS is going to be a heat issue with out some serious ventilation, don't get me wrong it can be done, but i have a feeling your stealth factor is going right out the window if you have to get that much airflow going since thats such a small space. On the bright side you could user smaller CFM(cubic feet per min) ratings on the fans since the space is more compact.
If it was me working in a closet and i wanted HPS id probably use the 150 to cut down on heat even tho you won't be able to produce as much yield since its a smaller output - more output = more energy = more for plants to use for growth.
If you have the funds you'd probably be good at looking into a real LED setup. Will cost more up front, but would save you money down the road, less ventilation needed, less electricity being used.

GLH, Blackstar, Hydroponics Hut, Stealth, Advanced, and Pro Source. In no particular order those are some good ones to start researching and were all on my short list for led lighting purchase possibilities. It'll run you 300 bucks for a good panel but like Hank said is probably your best bet with the space. I've grown with both cfl and led, you'll get better nuggets with led.

I used to have a 150w hps - I was not that impressed with it for the heat generated.

You guys think 3 by 3 Feet would be enough for one 150W HPS so it wont get that hot?
