Yeah, from my experience it was a temp problem coupled with bad watering practice (Over watering).
In my country we experienced heat waves this just added to the heat emitted from my HPS, what i did was got a AC unit to cool the tent.
It is also likely that it is a light being to close, the plants moisture from the leaves is evaporating to fast thus the curling occurs to try and counter act this.
What light do you run and how far is it from the plant?

how do I check for root aphid?

Light for the clone in pic is just an 18w twin tube flouro about a foot above them.

my veg room has worse curling and is under a 315w lec 1.5-2 foot above canopy. bloom room they improved but stress and damage has already been done, think ill cut my loses with them and start again.

If your willing to cut it down then you should be willing to leave it alone and figure it out and wait to see if it works itself out.

thoroughly inspected rootballs of plants I ripped and cant see any signs of insects (what I could tell from google search anyway)

was a few brownish roots but otherwise rest were nice white healthy roots

I wouldn’t recommend ripping up and starting over. I would troubleshoot the problem and learn from there. If you just replant without figuring out the source of the problem, you’re not going to learn, and will probably just run into the same problem again.

could honestly be anything on a giant list of problems. in trying to fix it you could just fuck it up more. just give it a flush and time, let things settle

So are you saying you ripped up healthy plants ?

The grow I ripped up was severly stunted and stressed and major hermie just 3wks into 12/12 so they got ripped.

cupping/curling starts at tops and new growth but slowly spread to bottoms.

theyre pineapple express and in soil.

broadmites do look highly likely going off what ive found on the www, dont have a good enough magnify glass to have a good look tho will get some spray today and treat just in case

If you ripped up your plants, and pest are in question, just start with new soil.
