Help!!!!! Bad algae water and stinky water..

hey guys i have a newbie questions, i have a dwc and it has no problems but i have a ebb and flow 55 gallon resevoir and the i just changed the water out 2 days ago an was gonna transplant plants today but the water stinks bad!!! It has to have algae down there the way it smells, so what do i do? Can i add bleach to kill it or just drain clean and refill, and what can i do to prevent this from happening again? Also the resevior is blue,i could tricked on ebay, is that part of the problem? We wrapped mylar around it to reflect the light but not sure if this was a good idea? 1000 watt mh bulb in a 4by8 feet room about, with 12 pots and one 8 gallon dwc bucket. Thanks sandee

sounds like you have a light leak. make sure your mylar is covering the entire rez.
fresh water is a must. wipe down any surface the water contacts with bleach or another sterilization solution.

it also sounds like stagnant water
u must have air stones in the water to keep it movin

yeah it has one airstone about 6in long and 3 round it sits at the bottom-should i cut the cord so it sits somewhere in the middle- an should i change all the water out or just add a little bleach to it?

change your water, then wipe the rez while its dry using bleach. your airstones are fine at the bottom because air rises :P
