Well and you don't want anything terribly fickle taking care of your moms for long periods of time anyway...and when you are talking about keeping mom plants would hydro even be worth the effort, since you aren't looking at yield and all that...just branches to clone...
Anyway you could just get a tub of some sort and the normal bubblers and put 2 holes with net pots in the top...I have seen people do 4 or 6 plants out of one big rubbermaid tub...so I guess it would work the same...but what I would think you would want to do is just take a clone of the mom and flower the mom, then take a clone of the clone when it is ready and then flower that donor plant too...someone mentioned it before..perpetual cloning...that is what I do more or less...I take a plant and take a clone, then I flower the original and keep growing with the clone over and over and over...that way the big plants are out of the way, and I get just enough time to train and grow out the clone to resemble it's donor plant before it is time to flower again...now sometimes my timing hits a snag, and all my clones start to get too big for me to be comfy flowering them...so I go in and cut them in half, give them a few days to recover, and then I flower them...is it exact? no...but does it all work out in the end? Sure it does...
I dont have room to keep moms...or to keep moms while also growing clones large enough to flower...I have often thought of keeping moms in veg, then taking a clone every week and right after it gets roots moving it to flower...so i could harvest one small plant every week, but then I was like nah...and just kept on doing what I was doing...
