Newb electrician here trying to figure out how to PROPERLY wire my 150w HPS ballast. I was using a 70w from Home depot and decided that wasnt enough. I got a ballast kit on ebay and it came with a transformer, an ignitor, and a capacitor. I cant seem to understand the wiring diagram and am lost as to how to wire it all up. The transformer and ignitor both have three wires comming form them.
From the transformer: 1.) Orange wire with "120v" written on it - guessing thats power from the wall. 2.) Blue wire with "X3" written on it (guessing this goes to ignitor as the ignitor has blue wire comming from it with same "X3" print). 3.) Red wire with "Lamp" written on it.
From the ignitor: 1.) Blue wire mentioned above with "X3" printed on it. 2.) Pink wire with "lamp" printed on it. 3.) White wire with "com" written on it. (guessing is neg or ground).
I currently have it wired up so that power goes into the transformer via orange wire. - Blue wire form trans. to blue wire on ignitor. - Red "lamp" wire from trans. wire nutted togetner with pink "lamp" wire from ignitor and the light socket. Then, from the light socket the negative is wire nutted together with the white "com" wire from the ignitor and the negative side of my power chord plugged into the wall. The light works but i'm afaraid to run it for long because the trans. is getting very hot and i can not figure out where the cap needs to be wired in.
Please help me! my babies are 2 weeks into flowering and need the extra light! Sorry for the long and confusing post.
