help for pot sizes

Thanks for clarifying what litrers to gallon is. But I have to disagree with 1 gallon of space for every 12 inches, Maybe for a plant you plan on keeping around a while and are growing it out bushy. But a plant your only gonna flower for 8-9 weeks avg I think 4-5 gallon pot is over kill as this would be what I needed according to your rule of thumb....but with every grow ...they are not created equal..
I have to disagree with that because I use 5 gallon pots. I make usually 1 transplant only and that is from a 6'' container. Now if I vegetate for a period of 6 to 8 weeks already in a 5 gallon pot then eventually transfer to the flowering area for a period of 8-9 weeks on average of course depending on the strain then in my case use of 5 gallon pots is not overkill.

pot size really depends on your room size

I need trees. I was in 5 in rw and max is like an ounce a plant. I need more!

Minimum 5 gallons for me. Hopefully 7 if I can get the room right. I am in 4x4x6.5 in space for flower. I think I can get it.

I am doing lr2 so far in 3 gallons. But it is a dwarf. Yet, still, i think one reason people get so low yeild is the small pots everyine uses for dwarfs. I see 2 gallon as average. I prob move up to 5s.

Use the big pots!

So are you telling me you take that plant from seedling or clone and put it in a 5 gallon bucket to veg? am i missing the point here? how is that not overkill going from 6" to 5 gallons. :wall:

Because hes vegging for so long after And Then flowering in the same pot. By 12 weeks im sure the 5 gallons is well used.

Using a huge pot sems like a big waste when you are vegging i can see where everyone is coming from. On the other hand it keepy you from having to transplant and risk shocking or stressing out the plant. It just depends on the grower and what they prefer to use.

Whatever you choose, you should consider square pots or grow bags to maximize space. I have the homebox s which is 31.5 x 31.5 and I use 9.5 x 9.5 inch (2.5 gallon) square pots in there to maximize my space. I grow Lowryder 2's so that works well for me, not sure what you would want to use. If you're set on 12-15 girls and your grow room is 48" x 48", you could go with 5 gallon grow bags that are 8" X 15" X 9" tall which allow 15 with room or 18 packed in. Or you could go with the 7 gallon grow bags which are 9" X 13" X 10" tall. I don't know if you want the 3 gallon bags or not but they are 6 1/2" X 13" X 7 1/2" tall.

thx guys.

@chunkymunkey33
i have a homebox,too. it is 4' x 4 '

are 15 girls ok under 600w hps or too many ?

@mygirls

..she looks perfectly ...

i heard that more transplant = more stressed.

if i would begin in 1 litre ( 1/4 gal) pots and after 15 days i will transplant them 3 gal pots,

would it be ok ?

i read on another forum,too many pots would waste of compost .i dont know if it is true.

bigger pots always mean bigger plants and bigger buds ?

I transplant 2 times total. from seedling cup into 1 gallon into 2-3 gallon depending on which strain. Never had a plant die on me from transplanting.:bigjoint:
