Help Germinating

Hey all, I just placed an order with a seedbank yesterday, and IF they make it here without a customs seizure letter i was hoping for some advice on germinating them. I have done it before with bagseed, but these werent cheap and I don't wanna screw em up. Last time i did it I just used a wet paper towel. I do have a rapid rooter tray with plugs and a humidity dome, although it's dried out, so i'll probably get a new tray. I think i've read on here about soaking the seeds in superthrive or some kind of nute beforehand. I appreciate any suggestions, Thanks guys! Oh yeah, and i also have a heat mat for the tray.

Just get some rockwool cubes and push em about a quarter inch into them. just be sure to keep the cubes moist. then when they sprout just plant the whole cube.

good day to ya Smallsetup. i personally use the paper towel method with great suscess each time, as for medium for them wunz they crack, i've always had good luck with peat pellets and little pots or cups with Sun Mix 4 (my prefered grow medium with some extra perlite mixed in) now that i said that, i must advise you not to use rockwool for the seeds unless you know how to do it right! i bot dutch passion blueberry feminized few weeks back, frigin way pricey at $320 with shippin! they all cracked and had bout 1/4" roots, put them into rockwool to try it with my good seeds, and not a 1 has come out! pretty sure i kept the peat pellets to wet, so i hear ya about the worry, not sure bout fertz in the presoak, but can't hurt, but use a good soil for them when they sprout, old moma nature works best for garenties, lol, got bag seeds already sprouting in peat and ordering 3 new strains today, :mrgreen: take a look at mine if ya want https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/97022-just-starting-after-looong-stop.html

I was thinkin about that too, ever heard anything about soaking the seeds first?

Thanks for the info, I;m gonna be putting the in a hydro system (drip system with hydroton) although i might try soil for a mother plant. My friend uses the peat pellets and likes them, but i've had luck with those rapid rooters. :peace:

I was looking through some other threads, and someone said they germinate in distilled water in a glass? Anyone heard of this?

ya, works fine too, best to just wait a day till they sink then put them into some kinda medium, just got back from me local hydro shop and he said he always has luck with seeds and rockwool, i must just suck with it

Guess like anything else you gotta crawl before you walk right? Too bad it costs so much to walk lol. :mrgreen:

im a professional plantsman and I can assure you that with good quality seeds, keep em moist and you cant go wrong. There are loads of fancy ways to do it, but simply save handling them too much at various stages cos that is when they can get damaged. I use soil but from what I know about hydro, id get them straight in the rock wool cubes and KEEP EM MOIST!!

Thanks, i'm gonna try the water in the cup thing and see how that works. Do the seeds have a shelf life? bongsmilie

i have never soaked seeds myself. just throwing them in rockwool and lettin them do their thing works perfectly for me. good luck

Yeah that might be OK but I would recommend growing at least 5/6 to have a chance of getting one that will be worthy of mother plant status. Growing from seed produces plants of varying quality, in all plants. Also once you have one plant to clone from you really dont need the seeds anymore.

Stick your balls on the line and get every m.f'ing seed you got in dat glass. son :eyesmoke:

Lol, i probably will do like six. you're right, keep the good mother vegging and flower the others! bongsmilie
