Help, growing in pots.

Hey guys, I remember someone telling me about using peatmoss and perlite I think it was at the bottom of your pot for drainage and airation? I cant really remember, if someone could help me out that would be great.

mix 50/50 with a inch layer of perlite on the bottom of the pot for drainage.
