Help Help Help, What is this beetle!!??

Please, I have searched the net far and wide and nothing, closest thing i can find it resembles is a carpet beetle but they don't eat plants, this thing was definitely munching.

Help, I live in colorado if any other growers out here have seen this, I know that I saw one of these bugs outside a few weeks ago when the weather started warming up.
This picture is Super Macro, I couldnt even tell what color the thing was with my naked eye. its about the size of a pin head.

Has any 1 else had bad experiences wiv thse critters as there coming through floorboards from below flat/apartment?
Whats a good way to keep off plants?
