Looking good @Vdxiii but I'd like to see a couple of photos taken from the side to show the colas vertically. From what I can see in post #13, there are plenty of white pistils and those buds haven't fattened up yet. You want to see those pistils turn brown/red and shrivel back into the buds. You'll see the calyces fatten up and the colas may start leaning from weight. Combine that with all cloudy and few amber trichs and you'll chop at peak.
Well said.

VDX, you have what every grower goes through, the OMG i got a good crop i dont wanna eff it up should i harvest now?

Swift answer: NO! Be patient amigo. Those white pistils gotta go, your calyxs' still need to swell, and you have plenty of time left. Buckle up, simmer down, and watch your buds just swell and get bigger and bigger, youll be stoked you waited. Theres two sayings I go by, one, its easy to harvest early and hard to harvest late, two, let your plants go as long as you can stand it... then give them another 2 weeks:bigjoint: smoke a fattie and chill.

Do you gentlemen agree that this Norther LIghts should be harvested soon, just took few pics of the trichomes and i can see very few started turning amber (which i am not sure i should allow any on a pure indica like the Northern Lights???)
Please see the inside the blue circles on the trichome pix...honestly just by looking at her, she looks a 9 months pregnant who is about to drop it lol

Still have some time left. Those ones you circled are barley begining to turn amber. Barley. The more evident issue is that you still have a decent amount of white pistils. You would be cutting yourself short in multiple ways by chopping that early.

Love how decisive this answer is..thanks @Wizzlebiz ..now i know i should wait then. You know: I am just scared i let my guard down and then pass 4-5 days without checking them and boom...i find a lot of amber. This is where i am admitting to be very paranoid.

Thats understandable. Just continue to check daily if it helps you feel better. To help quell some fears I have never just woken up to a shit ton more amber from one day to the next unless I just went way to far. Which it seems that you won't allow to happen lol.

It is much easier to harvest early than late, it won't all turn amber over night. Looking very nice, good job. Your patience will be rewarded.

Well we talked about this, your Gelato is definately ahead of your northern lights, but like Wiz said, you GOTTA let those white pistils change over, or your looking at chopping way too early. Again, dont just focus on the trikes, look at the whole plant and you will have much greater success. Plus, in a week when your buds start to swell, trust me, your gonna be like 'holy shit!'

I'm going to give you imo the most important reason to not chop early.

You dont want your weed to taste like shit. Hay smell and taste is what happens when we vhop to early.

Not to mention including but not limited to: loss of potency, loss of yield, less glittery goodness for hash making, and ridicule forever from your peers.

That was a joke.... We won't ridicule you for to long

Its true, Vdx, we are all trying to give you good advice. Be wise and take it. There is NOTHING worse than growing a whole season and producing a harvest that has half the potential it would have. One year, I was sprung on trikes, harvested on sept 4, like 4 weeks ago, and the weed was so early, smelled like hay, was a waste of a season, I'll never make that mistake again.

These guy are telling you how it is, the straight story.
Deep breath, relax. This stuff will not turn into a sleeping pill overnight.
If you are unable to wait as long as you are being instructed to, then at least don't take it all down at once.
What I mean is, take part of you plant don't when you think you can't wait any longer, and then leave the rest of it for another 7-10 days.
This will give you the chance to see if you can tell any difference in the smoke.
It's just a suggestion, they are your plants, do as you will!
Cheers,
WillieP

Plants ripen slowly, it takes WEEKs!

In all my years of growing and being on forums I have NEVER seen someone accidentally over ripen a plant. It just wont happen unless you completely ignore your plant for weeks.

Also don’t get hung up on trichome percentages. A ripe plant is a ripe plant. If you chop it early you get less high if you harvest when it’s ripe you get more high.

As ever gentlemen, mixing searching and youtubers renders sometimes confusing results or is it relative to personal preference matter?? I dunno!
My question is simply what is the allowed ratio on amber trichomes in an pure indica and indica-hybrid? .......Sativa i know.... everyone agrees it is 70%:30% cloudy:amber, but indica is confusing me. Thanks again for the input.
BTW..those pics from the Gelato OG just this morning..looks like amber just started as well.
