HI to all, I'm just into second week of 12/12 and was wondering if i can remove some of the largest fan leaves to thin my stan and olly out a bit (see pics) as the plants i've seen on here so far look like they have less leaves on them and look less dense all replies will be greatfully accepted So if you can help in any way at all please feel free to do so. thanks in advance.:bigjoint:L.T.

You can remove fan leaves, but its best to do most your trimming in veg. Once in flower you want her to use her energy on the buds, not recovering from a prunning session. Too much stress and you may end up with a hermie. So take 2 leaves at a time and allow some heal time before you take another 2. Start at the bottom and work your way up.

Those fan leaves are like your plants power plants. Don't remove the whole thing if you can avoid it. Try to just remove every second finger of the fan leaves if you want better light penetration.

As said above, pruning etc is best done in veg. However if you do prune during flower, I have to disagree with the above post, I find that pruning small amounts over an extended period does more harm than doing all your pruning at once... Think of it like this; which would you find more stressful; having a couple fingers chopped off, then waiting a few days and having a couple more chopped off, then waitin then chopping ... OR ... would you rather have all your fingers chopped off at once and have it over and done with so you can get on with healing (Neither is pleasant but I'd rather have it all done at once so I can get on with healing).

That is correct. I would spread the branches out. Fan/spread them out so the light hits the inner buds.

I like the analogy Greenphoenix, but if you cut a lot off during flowering your increasing the chances of the plant going hermie.

You do have a point. But I've done some heavy pruning during flowering and never had a hermie. But it CAN happen for sure ... I really think people get a bit too scared of causing hermies coz they hear about them everywhere, with people saying this, that and something else will cause them. If your plant has good genetics and is not being stressed in a lot of other ways, its pretty rare for hermies to appear. The easiest way to get hermies is to have a light leak during the dark period when flowering. Other than that, they're rarer and harder to come by than what people lead us to believe.

But blackcoupe is right in saying it does increase the chances of the plant going hermie. Amplified again if other things are stressing your plants.

Cheers peeps, One more thing i forgot to ask would it harm the plants to repot them at this stage into bigger pots or would they be o.k. as they are. As i'm bit concerned about the roots the pot sizes at the moment are 11 inches in diameter and the same or slightly more in depth can't check yet as Stan and Olly are on lights out. :bigjoint:L.T. Once again ta very much.

Same with the pruning ... Yea you can repot them, but its guna cause a lil stress.
If you decide to repot them (which I would do if they're getting rootbound) then do it very gently and carefully. Use kind hands :)

That sounds like a good idea, go easy with the scissors and go crazy with the bending, dont over bend and snap a stem though.

No scissors i'll be using surgical tweezers as they are smaller and more precise just have to remain straight headed though. But after 22 years of injesting some very very good weed and some really shit weed that'll take some doing. Oh well there's a first time for everything. :joint::evil:

:-o Hey people just had one last look at STAN and OLLY before lights out now i can't be 100% certain but it looks like OLLY who has a 3 inch height advantage over STAN could just have produced his first pistils (big oops) HER first pistils will try to get pics 2moz as is now bedtime for them...

Hi, sorry meant to add would it make a big difference using standard compo bit concerned bout the nutes also coz i'm on flower don't mean to be a pain in the ass but it went horribly wrong 1st grow so i wanna get his right as you'll probably understand. i'm gonna just drop them straight into pots with new comp on bottom, cheers. :bigjoint:

you cant stress plant by cutting it. im not sure you realize how strong marijuana plant is..
