It depends somewhat how high the address number is.
25000 is just North of 11 mile, and pretty much all there and above is good.
The closer you get to 8 Mile the poorer the quality of neighborhood as a general rule.
Southfield is in Oakland County - the most hard ass of all Mich. counties on MM so far - but they have backed off and even rescheduled marijuana at the County level in an attempt to capitalize on MM as soon as they can.
So times are changing, and because the demographic of the county is swinging decidedly Democratic the old Republican guard is well aware their days are numbered if they continue to try and defy the 2 out of 3 of their neighbors who voted in MM.
They also lost pretty much every Court case for the raids as well, and appear to have learned to accept the law.
So I would advise that our County reputation, although well deserved, may not apply any longer.
Southfield is a mix of people that is shifting from predominately Jewish to predominately Black residents.
8 Mile Rd. denotes Detroit and forms the Southern Border; the closer to 8 mile you get the housing stock deteriorates.
White flight, which does finally seem to be subsiding, left many border neighborhoods around Detroit in shambles as property values sunk and upwardly mobile Blacks abandoned the same starter homes they had inherited from the Jewish families who all moved to West Bloomfield.
Hopes this helps you.
