Help me diagnose the problem

I just recently received a clone from my friend, and I don't know how well he took care of it. So, I thought I'd just throw it in the ground just to see what'd happen. I know that the garden has been mulched(but that's pretty much all I can tell you.) Don't bash me too hard here, please. Just a newb trying to grasp the ropes

it will probably be ok just have to wait and see ......just keep an eye out for pests if your just going to leave it to nature you have come to the right place .....for your info but usually ppl need a bit more info such as age/strain/nutes/watering ect..but still im sure it will recover ...how long has it been in your garden?

I just put it in there yesterday morning, he had it in a halved two-liter bottle. I watered it once I put it in there, but then the sprinklers came on and I seen they sdo slightly sprayed the plant. So I didn't water today. I went out and checked the soil at around 2:30pm and it was damp, but it is now dry at 7:30pm.

Around 80. I love in So-Cal if that helps at all. But I know this weekend is going to heat up quite a bit. Any recommendations on what to do then?
