RDAP is "residential drug and alcohol program". i can get 9 months knocked off my sentence if i can get accepted and complete it. they house all the RDAP people together in their own unit. you do 4 hours of rehab and 4 hours of work per day. it is a 9 month program. i can get 9 additional months knocked off, then 6 months at a halfway house, or house arrest. so a 9 months program can get me out 15 months early. if i can get into the program i may only have to do 15 months. which i can take off another 2 months for good behavior. best case scenario i do 13 months on a 30 month sentence.

i'm planning on doing the full 30 months, minus good time. i'd hate to get my hopes up, only to be let down. i plan for the worst and hope for the best.

Got it. Each halfway house is different but, after the first month and you get a J. O. B. (which you then pay them some of your salary to the halfway house) they let you spend nights at your home (especially if your job and home are far away (say for instance halfway house in SF or Oakland and job (and home) in your current town.

As I said, Good Luck to you and yours! My wife said I was a better and more considerate person when I came home. I am sure you will be fine.

thanks.

i have a job waiting for me once i get home. i read on the BOP website that house arrest is an option over a halfway house. i'm hoping that an established job, family and home will help push me in that direction.

we are trying to make another humans time a little easier. it isnt about money and it certainly isnt about promoting that going to prison is a good hting. I am sure FDD and his family will attest that the last year and the next 3 will not be very pleasurable and with a little comfort from friends here on RIU and that he knows personally, well I dont think thats a bad thing.

parole isn't too bad, just stay out of trouble and play the game.
I had a dirty urine-good ole thc-and ended up taking 6 piss tests a month-one each week and two surprises. Only time I had a problem was when I forgot to list an over the counter cold medicine at the test and called in an hour later to tell him about it. He noted it, because I was taking a tylenol # 3 for dental work -1/2 grain of codene-and the test came back positive for morphine. I had talked to a couple of pharmisist and they explained that the codene and cold medicine would give a false positive and the parole office backed off-also morphine was never a drug a choice in my file-no record anywhere.
at the end the parole officer just goes away.

So I read this thread from start to finish lastnight and here is what I take from it. Dont fuck around with shit that falls in the feds jurisdiction. I know how determined local police get when they have a opportunity to nail somebody on drug charges and if possible take public credit for it. So imagine the feds as local police with no concience and unlimited resources to ensure its worth their time. All beware Illonois takes all drug related complaints seriously and makes great strives to make it easier to investigate such complaints. As of Jan 1st they passed a law that allows states attorneys to grant warrants for phone taps and other tools to pursue felony related drug charges. The States Attorney tries everyone in a county and has very little oversight besides the attorney general which means they have alot of power and most are very inexperienced lawyers with little knowledge of the constitution. They are proffesionals at putting you in position where a plea bargain is your only option unless you have 30 grand laying around for a lawyer. My experience with the law is to be as compliant with them as possible without incriminating yourself too much because they will most likely determine your fate and pissing them off is not going to help anyone. Cover your ass before its too late and Im sure FDD is thinking about all the things he did wrong and how he wishes he would of never brought it to that level. I know I do!

I followed most of the rules and never revealed my secrets to anyone not related to me and somehow I was woke up in my bed by the police with a warrant and It was one of the worst feelings ever. Not because I was getting fucked over but more because my wife and kids were now apart of this awful ordeal. I honestly would of woke up and said eat shit if I didnt have a family that depends on me being there for them. If you decide to cross that line you need to first be willing to accept the worst possible scenario and think about who else will be affected by your actions. I think I was fortunate being a first time offender and only having a personal use garden but it could of been perceived very differently at times. All it takes is for 1 person to tell another they trust and then they tell another which ultimatly may wind up on some investigaters desk that happens to know your landlord really well which then allows him enough pull to get some judge he knows to sign off on a warrant. Just sayin they is no fullproof way to not get caught given any circumstance whether you choose to keep it a complete secret because their is always some aspect to your garden that will force you to interact with the outside world regarding supplies, research, or just having tell tell signs. All you can do is ensure the risk are minimal. Being paranoid can be beneficial in keeping you aware of your surroundings and others. Growing weed can become addictive and once you cross that line little stands in your way of stepping way over and getting popped. Time only strengthens your carelesness and gives you an overall sense of self worth but can quickly be your worst enemy. I always felt as if I had a monkey on my back when it was in my home and will never make that mistake again. Peace everyone and hope this is a reality check for some. Im sure FDD can relate to all of this.

pS: if you must fuck around in Illinois do it in the north cuz the midwest is full of Leos with nothing better to do than screw over people over for anything they can regardless. Its all about the buddy system in those parts. My bro was out of the military less than 3 months and went to prison for 2 years over some make belief bullshit but since he had a choice between going to trial on class x felony which is 30 years or take a plea for 2 years he was left with a tough choice. Never been in trouble his whole life but pissed off some crazy cops that happened to be his girlfriends parents. I seen it happen more than once to people close to me and it sucks but what can you do.

Just as Fdd has said one of the worst things about it all is the probation with drug testing. I have yet to receive my lashings but I do know its written in the law that its mandatory for the drug probation and 2 years is along time with no chemicals in the brain. But if I interpet correctly it means no illegal drugs so maybe if your lucky you will only be bound by state laws in that aspect. 2 years from now I see the green will be legal in alot of states and if your medical than its a legal drug already but dont know the rules behind being a drug felon.

i can't even drink beer. once on probation they can set up any 'rules' they chose. even if pot becomes fully legalized, i still won't be able to smoke it. :(

I haven't been on this site for a long long time, but reading through all of this made me feel really bad... FDD taught me 90% of what I know about marijuana cultivation, through his logs, post. I even saw him make some cool glass a few times on a streamed video.

Good luck FDD, my best wishes go out to you and your family.

Well dude how can you complain you had like 20 pounds of reefer
You Sir are an idiot and I'm sure a hypocrite. I guess you always buy your weed on the up and up. Which would be impossible seeing how it's still against federal law. FDD harmed NO ONE and has helped MANY. Please change name to StuperDaveJr712
