Wondering on how long it takes a seed to sprout from soil when putting the seed in water until sinking (24 hours) then putting it an inch deep in soil.

Is it all up to the strain, lights, temp? help me out

all depends on the strain and genetics of the seed. i germinated 2 seeds sunday, both cracked in 48 hours. planted in soil right away, 24 hours later only one has popped up. hope this helps

all mine were sprouting within 3 days. 6 within 24 hrs and the rest over the next 2 days. be careful how deep you plant those seeds though. would go less than an inch maybe half. i had 2 fail to sprout because they were too deep. maybe had i waited 2 weeks they may have come up but i was impatient and they would have been 2 far behind the others

Honestly I don't like the straight water germination process I use paper towels and have a 120% better rate of successful seeds. But it's a personal choice. If you have a lot of heat and darkness with a good amount of humidity the seed will react to the process sooner. I've had it in both techniques where they pop open within 1 day or almost 3 weeks so it really depends on how nice you are to them.

Im actually doing both techniques right now and i am VERY low scale, i put one seed in paper towel and one in a shot glass in the dark, pretty much testing out which way is better myself but many people have been telling me paper towel is much better, im going to see how they both work out hopefully they both end up around the same length of time so ones not further along then the other but even if one takes longer ill be trying to grow both. so blazeofglory your saying temp and darkness will do the trick for paper towel ill have to try and warm it up somehow

What I do is soak them in water for 24 hours then wrap them in damp paper towel and keep them in the dark. I plant them once the seed has cracked open. This way you're not staring at your pot or rockwool or whatever wondering if it's a dud or not, simply open up the paper towel every couple days and see what they're up to, go from there.

one of the seeds split and its into the soil doing 20/4 light cycle right now with a shitty light, 19w LED.. wondering if this will even sprout a seed feedback on that would really be helpful!

working on getting a 400w hps or 3 60w CLFs but im super low on cash so its a no go for at least another week someone let me know if my light now will even work or not , thanks !

About your LED, I'm pretty sure you could grow a plant under a 23W CFL.. it would be unhealthy and probably wouldn't yield anything but I believe there would be enough light for it to 'survive'. Your small LED will work, but the sooner you get a bunch of CFL's or a HID the better.
