I NEED HELP! I AM USING TOP LIGHT: 6500K CFL AND SIDE LIGHTS: 4-5500K (each bulb). IF I BRING MY LIGHTS THAT CLOSE, THE TEMP. GOES REALLY HI UP, OVER 100 DEGREES! HOW CAN I FIX THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE MY SETUP IN A CLOSET AND MY LIGHTS ARE 10 INCHES AWAY FROM THE PLANT! AT THAT DISTANCE I HAVE 90 DEGREES AND I THINK THAT IS HI, NO? I AM USING A FAN ON MEDIUM AND STILL IT HOLDS THAT 90 TEMP! WHAT SHOULD I DO?

BEST ANSWER WILL GET ++REP

for that small of a plant i would just use 2 bulbs over it with a small fan blowing across it. do you have a intake and exhaust for the closet? if you dont id make some.

serious on that exhaust fan idea, oscillating fans are good for breaking up stagnate heat. yet all they are doing is blowing the air around if there is nothing to suck the heat out its still going to sit in the room and raise the temps

ya those lights could be closer if you had some ventilation. without proper ventilation, your plants will have countless problems so its a good investment anyways. You want the temp around 60-70 if you can. also, those 5500k bulbs are NOT the spectrum you want, your plants arent getting much usable light. If you had 4-6500k and 1-2300k bulb, that would be a lot better.

Above said it all. Is there any fresh air coming into the closet at all? If you need a cheap fix you can buy a cheap inline booster fan from home depot and punch a small hole in your closet ceiling. That will help suck the air out and into your attic. If your not on the top floor you need to exchange air eth your room and if needed cool your room.

Cls shouldn't get that hot unless you have no exchange going on. I have a small speaker box with 100w of cfls and it stay whatever temp my house is with just one computer fan.

use a squirrel cage fan from the outside of the grow room with a hose going to the inside of the room and that will help a lot, always need a osculating fan too, makes the plants stem strong and helps on temps. good luck

Right now I'm just using a fan. NO exhaust and no Inline air. What I did to bring down the temp was open my closet doors! Temps dropped down too about 80-85 degree max and it stays a steady humidity of 40-50%.
I think I'm ok now, What do you think?
