if you think you can trust some one knowing you have plants and you cant trust them to hold you key, you have some problems

wow is that good for the plant to only be watered every 10-11 days?
just asking as i would think that the water would be going stagnant by then and the lack of D/O in the water would be an issue
you raise a good point. might get fungus knats but other than that i don't think it would be that big a deal probably should flush it out real good when you get home though

you think a gallon water with a drip hole would work???

seriously, i don't know why everyone in soil doesn't drop $50-60 to make a drip irrigation system and avoid all the problems with over/underwatering and only have to show up when you feel like it ...

just see how much it drips in a day and if the bottle has 90% of its water left it will last 10 days try to make the bottle last till a few days before you get back what ever the size as a 2 litre bottle will only give you 200ml per day over 10 days

how do i know if it's dripping enough?
just estimate how much you water, then figure out how much it drips, and do the math ...

for the pump, i run the pump for a minute after i have it set up with spigots, and do the math. i have it set up to run every 12 hours for my bloomers and every couple days for the veggers in smaller pots. works like a fucking charm. i show up once a week to beautiful new growth...

wonder if one of those dog or cat watering systems could get rigged to work?
I posted this in another thread to an outside grower.

Get yourself some containers (you should already have an idea of how much water the plants require in order to make your calculations). Gallon milk jugs to five gallon buckets, whatever suits your needs.

Aquarium airline tubing, and some airline valves, silicone. Drill a hole into the container, as close to the bottom as you can. Silicone in the valve, attach the tubing. Set your drip rate (hopefully as low as 1 drop/hour, yeah?), and go. I suggest getting this set up and tested BEFORE you leave so you can work out any issues and be able to make your trip worry free.

Remember, this works on gravity. Hope this helps :)
