So whats up ppl i decided to become hydro... i think outdoor is the way for soi and indoor for hydro, so i want to test this out, i have a air pump 2.5W / pressure 0.010 Mpa/ cap 1.5 1/min, not sure what all that means would that pumo be enought for 5 gallon or i should get another one,.
On the other side is it ok to use tap water ph 8.2 ofc i get ph up/down and ppm 280, would that be ok for bubbleponic?
Anddd on the other thing do i just make my nutes the same way i make for soil? I mean mix em with water for the right PPM/PH and pretty much it? Do i have to let em sit overnight? Btw everytime i will use tap water i will leave it overnight, besides all that is there anything else i need to know?

how many watts is your pump? I'm sure seeing as your res' is only 5 gallons pretty much anything should do the trick. Tap water is fine however since your tap ph is high you're probably going to need to pre-treat it since ideally you'd like ~pH 5.5-6.1. What stage are your plants in? If they're early clones or seedlings 280ppm should be fine most of the ppm in tap is cal/mag anyways... For my DWC grow I didn't start my clones out in the hydroton I started them in a silo cup in rockwool which I transplanted into my hydroton once they began to root out. I never let my water rest and I've never had any problems I treat my water with h2o2 after my weekly res' clean and water change let it sit for a half hour since I don't use RO (this is an attempt to disinfect the water) then put my plants back in let it set then put my nutrients in seems to work pretty well for me however my tap ph is approx 5-6ph

I have what some may consider overkill for bubbleponics but, I really like to make sure my roots get air. I have an inline 35w airpump, and 2 40gal 116v airpumps, plus a water agitator and my roots look like pumpkin guts inside my 20gal res' so maybe something to consider.

Hello! Great questions. As far as the PH of your water pretreating may not be necessary it is going to come down to what nutes you are using. I have a similar situation where I am, the water from the tap has a moderately high ph at 7.5-8, but what I discovered is if I use the General Hydroponics 3 part nutrient solution as recommended on the back of the bottle, my PH gets adjusted to the right PH every time withuot me having to pretreat my water. I still test it every time anyway, but its always right on the mark, without me having to PH it at all. Thats my experience with DWC and General Hydroponics, any nutrient solution with a buffer will work also. When mixing nutrients for Hydroponic growing and using 3 part nutrient systems, you generally want to start with the Micro first, then grow, then bloom in that order. What you 'don't' want to do is mix them all in one container (adding the concentrated nutrients together before putting them in the water) and dilute them afterward.. Measure out each of them and dilute them in the water one at a time or else you run the risk of nutrient lockout from your plants. I think that swaggasaurusrex has the right idea when it comes to air in the res, I also try to overkill on my pump situation.. I have 2 dual spout air pumps supporting a 10 gallon res, 2 of the tubes are hooked up to 12 inch air stones, and the other 2 tubes are fed directly into the bottom of the reservoir creating an airy heaven for the root system. Check out my grow in my sig and you'll see what i'm talking about, the plants have absolutely exploded with growth the entire grow! About your water -- I don't let my water sit out either.. So I would say probably try without it first, if you're having good results not wasting that extra time, then stick to just feeding from the tap ph'd.

Good luck!

Thx for the reps, what size of net pots are u using? And can i use perlite? To support the lady? Ima check ur grow.

3 1/2 in ones I believe. I haven't thought about using perlite but I don't see why not. Honestly.. I've grown in foam cubes before with no other medium. shit works LOL

keep your PH level at 5.5 - 5.8 at all times. Dont add nutes until 2 - 3 weeks after sprout at 1/4 strength if your starting from seed.

especially in dwc, if you go by manufacturers recipe it will almost always be too much. the roots are in constant contact with the nutes and access is easy. dont count on the nutes to do the ph adjusting, at that point the ppm will be excessive for dwc. i keep my dwc around 600ppm and aero at 1000ppm.
