It makes perfect sense nutrients from the medium is delivered to all the shoots through the main stalk. - TrueIt makes perfect sense nutrients from the medium is delivered to all the shoots through the main stalk. When you cut the top of the plant off you end the
Stalk. At this point two shoots (side branches) become a divided top of the plant. Im not saying it divides the potency in half, as someone earlier suggested. Why doesnt that make sense. Its beside the point. The point is theres been quite a few people agree with me on the miracle grow issue. And they are all people that have burned plants with it and know exactly what it looks like.
When you cut the top of the plant off you end the Stalk. - True, but seeing as how this was the natural end of the line for nutrients it had nowhere else to go. So whats your point?
At this point two shoots (side branches) become a divided top of the plant. - True, thats the point.
So is the cola more potent because the plants hormones allow it to be more potent compared to lower branches? Or is it because its closer to the light source than the lower branches?
If it's the first case (that relative potency is a function of hormones) then it absolutely makes sense that topping will increase overall yield. You have more branches programmed as "main colas" now.
If it's the second case (that the cola is more potent because it's closer to the light) then it absolutely makes sense that topping will increase overall yield. You now have more colas closer to the light.
"Why doesn't it make sense" - For the reasons I just explained. The logic that the cola is the most potent part of the plant, therefore cutting the tip of the plant off means you lose thc would ONLY make sense if you are cutting off the cola once it starts to develop. And in that case I agree with you, cutting off partially formed bud would not only make you lose that bud but would stress the plant and cause energy to go from making new bud to repairing itself. But if the topping is done in the vegetative state and the plant it allowed to recover and become healthy then I don't see how it makes sense that its detrimental to the bud.
