over watering the styrofoam cups without holes on the bottom don't let excess water out. it gets stagnant and bacteria build up in there and change the ph of the water and your plant gets ph lockout and gets yellow.
also your new pots are looking over watered let them dry out or you will have more problems that are harder to fix then a thirsty plant. in nature it doesn't rain every day. Plants are used to periods of dryness. plus your roots will spread out and gather more nutrients instead of becoming root bound and growth stunted.
