Help Please??? Why do my buds look like this? They are 5 days into curing.

My first grow the buds were nice a tight and loaded with very visible Trichromes. However, this one the buds are very loose and the Trichromes aren't half as much as visible to the eye as the first crop was. I still get baked but I am not sure if it's as strong as the last crop either. If you look at the pics you almost see what looks like a bunch of pods broken open or something like it. Yet there are no seeds. I had several problems with the lights going out during the flowering cycle. These were in Flowering stage for 55 days, the first grow was in flowering for 53 days. I tried growing more this time but I also included a second 1000W light. The temps were pretty high during this grow too. I had a little issue with the pots not draining properly for a few weeks also. I guess my question is what happened? Why? What is the effect on quality? BTW, this is 5 Days into curing. They are in glass jars with metal screw on tops. I open them up 2 x a day to let any air out. Would I be better off putting it into freezer bags with the air drained? Will they get better with more curing? So far they seems to smoke OK, but the taste and smell are still a little more chemically than Ganja smell. Is there anything that I should do that will make the smell better? I also included 4 pics of the last grow with tighter buds. hay are about 10 days into curing. Thanks for any help you can give? Why and What 2.JPG100_1996.jpg100_1997.jpg100_1998.jpgWhy and What 3.JPGWhat and Why 4.jpgWhy does it look like this.jpgWhy and What 5.jpgWhy and What.jpg100_1995.jpg

It must be the pic, 3 of us have looked very carefully with our eye's, a magnifying glass, and a microscope and there is No mold. Thanks for the input though

Thanks, Maybe I am just judging everything by the first crop. I always get nervous at the end. This is AK 47 strain. I think I will cut the number of plants back to around 25. They were way to close together. The first one was 14 plants and I got 14 zips. This one was 40 plants and I got 21 zips and less quality. I am trying to grow 25 plants indoors and get at least 2 zips per plant. The stuff the other 2 are seeing is not mold, it is the resin or just the pic itself. I would die if I smoked mold because I am allergic to it. I have been smoking this stuff for a week already and I am still alive and well. It also seems to be getting better and stronger everyday. Any thoughts on how much longer I should cure it?

if its no mold then your fine buddy. i wont lie though, the flash or ligthing or whatever, definitely made a few of those pics 'look' like they may have gotten mold. again, no mold means you got some fine buds. typical cure lasts anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months btw, aim for 2-4 weeks (2 minimum) and you should have some good stuff.

anyone ever wonder about lightening and other natural lights/phenomenon's during flowering? Also a small bit of light, can visibly see the plants well at night. Most of it is from the nearby streetlights and buildings, but it doesnt seem to be harming my beautiful trees at all.

as far as i understand, this is the same reason as why the moon doesnt effect plants. something about lost photons/uv/spectum after reflecting off of another surface. TBH iam not exactly positive though, which is why i dont worry about PITCH blackness in my grow room, just a good 95% lol. sometimes, i can see the plants after ive adjusted to the lights, but this grow didnt hermie like the last (bagseed) grow did, which leads me to think its also at least slightly strain dependent (how much stress it can truly handle).

just a thought =D

yes, last year i had a hermy from bagseed outdoors, now none, but there may have been more artificial/electric light last year, idk

yep and that also leads me to think its a mixture. iam sure if enough light of almost any kind were given to any strain, at some point it will undoubtedly hermy. Iam just thinking that some strains just have higher tolerances to it. would the ruderalis gene (autos) be considered an immunity? iam told they flower under ANY light schedule, but i have no experience with them. what kind of hermy percentages do they receive i wonder?

Hey KlosetKing I have a question. Both my plants hermied at the same time. Would heat stress cause that? My grow room is darker then the ace of spades so I know it wasn't light. Also, if it was late in the flower stage does that mean that it most likley was too late to pollenate? I understand some strains will hermi late in the game as a natural measure...could that be what I saw?

as far as i understand, heat CAN cause hermie, but not usually? i think foxtails would happen first, but dont take my word on that.

it COULD be hermie induced by age, but this usually happens LONG after your typical harvest window. how old are they? bagseed or store genetics? whether its too late to pollinate or not depends on what stage they are in. if you are flushing already, and have like a week or 2 left, ya your probably fine. if it happened in week 2-4, get ready to start pluckin'.

-edit- better yet, send me a pm or start another thread for others to chime in with me, i dont wanna hijack this one.

KlosetKing...I want to pick your brain for some answers you may be able to help me with. Thanks for the other comment. First, during my last grow my wife and kids kept tripping the circuit breaker so I had a bunch of times the lights would go out for 20 minutes or so on the 12/12 flowering cycle. I also had to shut the lights down for 2 days when I had a visitor during the last 5 days of the grow. What are the repercussions of this? What is the best way to increase yield with 25 plants? I had one plant get spider mites on a portion of it during the last grow, what causes this? What size pots/buckets are my best bet for 25 plants in a 16 x 8 room? And last question is why and how should I use molasses or that sweet stuff during flowering? Wouldn't people prefer the original taste of Blueberry, Northern Lights #5, or AK 47? Those are the three strains I have. Thanks

well your first and foremost likely repercussion is hermaphrodites. second most likely scenario would be kicking them into a re-veg. 20 mins once is no biggy, alot might do a hermie. 2 days is the kind of thing that 'might' cause a re-veg, but i am nowhere near positive on that.

Spidermites i would bet is just your area/room conditions, or it came from your starting soil. To counter this, next time around, i would start with sprinking the top of your soil on each pot with a thin layer of diotomaceous earth when the topsoil is dry to at least 1/8th an inch. This will help kill anything that may make its way into the soil, or thats already there. you can build DE walls as well to prevent those small pests from entering areas as well. DE is organic, completely safe for humans/pets, and is devastating to soft bodied small insects. its my personal choice over chemicals.

Your room and pot size is going to be dependent on style of grow, as well as size of plants themselves. I do a very small scale grow so i don't think i can help here much =(

Mollasses is great for the last 4 weeks of flowering or so. i mix it in at about 1tbsp per gallon of water (though some use 2 per gal and say its safe and effective). warm it a little in the microwave first and it mixes with the water better. you can continue to use molasses after you start your flush, but i wouldnt use it in the last 2 waterings or so. Also, molasses is not about adding flavor. Its about giving the plant some necessary trace minerals like iron, but primarily, to provide it some essential carbs it uses in flower as well.

Hope this helped a little, and GL =D

You very well may be right. I had a hard time with temps this time around. With the two lights and and ac it was still around 90 most the time. How does heat stress affect the finished product? Is there any potency damage at the end? Thanks

KlosetKing... Thanks for all your help. I learned a lot. Looks like I lucked out this time. I need an electrician to fix this issue. Do you know of anything that I can add to the cure jars to add a better smell and/or taste?
