Help Please

I am new to growing, but I have done a good amount of research before starting. My problem is this: When I got my clone her top leaves had yellow tips. Now her top leaves have light brown tips. I am Using one 75w Daylight CFL bulb for light. I have not given her any nutes yet because I did not think she is old enough yet. What should I do?

I included a current pic of my clone. Please help.

i would put it in a larger pot and it will take off. and i dont know if your 75 watt bulb is actual wattage or equivelent wattage. if its equivelent wattage you need more light and you want a fan to blow on it to strengthen the stalk

That was equivalent wattage. I have one more of the 75w daylight CFL bulbs. Would that be enough for now? I mean I do plan on upgrading once she gets bigger. I am just operating on a small budget. I do have a fan to blow fresh air on it and strengthen its stem. I just forgot to mention it lol.

looks good. a bit droopy, but a new clone will tend to droop for a few days when first cut.

i agree move it to a larger< 5 or 6 inch) pot with setup of choice, and let them roots BLOOM, then the plant will also take off

I have chose a soil medium for my plant. Since that is how I got it. I will move it to a bigger pot today. The problem is the miracle grow organic soil I have has nutes in it (10-5-5). So I am kinda apprehensive about transplanting it into that. What do you think about the soil Timmahh?

I just wanted to know whether or not it is bad to transplant into that soil or not? I have read it is bad to give young clones nutes because it might burn the roots and kill them.

MG soil isnt necessarily bad, its just not optimal for cannabis. the fertilizers in it make feeding your plant a bit difficult. never give more than 1/4 strength and use ferts with mostly p/k. after transplanting dont give it anything for a couple weeks. watch you watering, MG soil tends to stay wet. that plant is starting to look a bit hungry, the new soil will do great for you.

Thanks for the advice.

The only other soil I have is stuff I got at a 99 cent store which is super dry and does not retain a lot of moisture. So I figured that the MG soil might be better than that one.

Thank you everyone for your advice. Any other advice for a first time grower would be greatly appreciated.

I may post some more pics in like a week just so I can give the transplant some time to take hold.

Should I use the cheap soil from the 99 cent store? or the MG? Just curious which would be better to use.
One more thing I would like to know is whether it is better to use a 3.7 gallon pot to transplant it in? or Would an 18 oz plastic cup be better I do not have anything in the middle size area.

it depends on what is in the soil, but MG has been used before and people have learned what not to do with it. you will probably get more solid advice using that. but for a buck it might be worth it to grab a bag of the cheap stuff and grow a test plant. if it doesn't retain water or gets hard when it dries, add some peat or coco. if you need to improve drainage add some perlite or vermiculite. the pot size is going to be determined by your growing style and how much space you have. 18 oz cups would be ok if you are gong to flower that clone right away. but if you are going to veg you want to use the 3.7 liter (about 1g). transplant, give it a few days to start rooting, then flower that girl.

some basic advice- get more light and improve your ventilation. take it easy on the nutes, especially when using MG soil. if you have the space, lighting and time you will want to top and train your clones to make the best use of your growing area. Read, Read, Read! thats the best thing you can do to improve your growing skills. dont feel the need to try every bloom booster or growth accelerator you see. most arent worth crap. stick to the basics light, water, air, and food.

The first bag of 99 cent soil has the following things in it: Composted forest products, peat moss, washed nursery sand, and dolomite lime.
The Second bag has: Recycled green material, Redwood bark, perlite, and sand.
Just thought I would list it so you could see what it has in it.

I definitely want to veg it some more. So I will see about getting a 1g pot to transplant it. It is way too small to flower it right now. The stem is only about 2 or 2.5 inches tall. I know where I can get some Foxfarms Ocean Forest soil. I have just been seeing mixed opinions on it. So I did not know whether it was worth both my time to go and get it and the money to buy it.

Thank you so much for the advice. You have been a lot of help to me.

if you can get FFOF, go with that. its a proven soil with proven results. the cheap soils dont sound bad at all. they both might benefit from a bit of vermiculite. if you are going to try one try the second one. if it drains well and seems nice and fluffy when wet. it might be an inexpensive option for you. if it seems muddy and sticky when its wet cut it with the vermiculite.

if you use the FFOF, its kind of rich so you will want to avoid ferts for the first couple weeks. i find it stays kinda wet indoors and a bit of perlite helps. no more than 20%, 5 parts soil to 1 part perlite. for your first run its your safest bet, but i think with a little mixing the cheaper soil may be a pretty good option for you. what brand is it?

The First cheap soil is Long beach Shavings co. and the second cheap soil is Agromin.

I think I will get the FFOF it sounds like a good option to me.
I might try the cheap ones as a fun experiment when I cut some clones from this one.

I could not find FFOF in the store I went to. They were out of it. I might go and try the other store sometime this weekend and try to get some. For now I just went ahead and transplanted my clone temporarily into my 10" pot filled with MG organic soil.

Here is a pic of it:

i did a little reading on that agromin soil, it seems like pretty good stuff. what size bag do you get for $.99? it looks like you may have planted it a little low in the pot, but it could just be the angle of the pic. you're using the MG Organic Choice, right? i have never used MG Organic soil for growing cannabis, but i do use when i setup or refresh my terrariums. because the tanks dont drain i add coco and vermiculite to it. you may want to add some perlite or vermiculite to help improve drainage.

It says it has 4 dry quarts or 4.4 liters in the bag.
Yeah I did plant it a little low in the pot. I ran out of the soil for the transplant.
Yes, I am using MG Organic Choice.
I will see about getting some perlite. I am just trying to do this grow as cheap as I can and still get some moderately good bud from it. I mean as long as I get at least an 1oz or 2 of moderately good bud from her I will be happy with the grow results.
When I am done I will most likely post an album on here chronicling the time from the day I got her until the day I harvest her.

Right now I am grappling with whether or not to temporarily take her out of the soil and aerate it because it just seems a little too compacted to me. I am going to add some perlite regardless of whether I aerate it or not. What I did to get some perlite was I picked it out of another soil and washed it off to save some money.

if you did it quickly the plant should be fine, was the root ball pretty solid when you transplanted it?

After picking a little amount of perlite out of the other soil. I now think it is worth the money to just go and buy a bag of it and save myself some time and work.

Okay cool.
Would it be a problem it it was not very solid? I mean it looked okay to me.
I mean she had a few roots all the way to the bottom of the first pot, but the rest where around the middle area of the pot.
The root ball was probably about the size of a golf ball or maybe a little bigger.
It just seems like she is growing so very slow. I mean she is only three inches tall.
I do not know if that is normal enough growth for about two weeks or not.
The two weeks is my estimation of the age. I do not know the exact age of her. I just know I have had her for a week.
