help root loss.....1st timer indoor closet grow

first off i am using MG potting mix, one 18in flourecent bulb always 4in from her head and one 65watt bulb sitting directly above the flourecent. i germinated her in a wet sponge till she popped. then placed her in mg potting mix and for the first 2 weeks she grew nicely. by the 10th of febuary i noticed her growth slow down. i figured she ran out of rooting room so i transplanted her in a bigger container at this point she is about 3 inches tall. while moving her i didnt losen the soil as much as i prob. should have and thugged a little bit too hard. she lost a majority of her roots. i had no root stimi. or anything other then water.i finished planting her and prayed she would pull thru. i water her everyother day or when the top of the soil is somewhat crusty. 4days later and the only thing i can tell is her 2 very bottom leafs are turning a lil yellow. as for her growth, she is still 3 inches tall. any and all helpful idea are welcomed.P.S 1st time growing. and on the worlds smallest budget.

Just my opinion, but I'd back off the water a bit. A lot of times the soil surface will be dry, but just
under, it's wet. Poke your pinky down about 1" and see if the soil feels wet. Try and stay close to
the edge of the pot so you don't disturb the roots. Also, what are your temps like?

Need more and better lights. If that's a 65w incandescent that will not work at all. Those do nothing for plants as far as growing is concerned.. you need to use one of the following. CFL, Metal Halide, High Pressure Sodium, or LED. Regular house-hold light bulbs don't do it.

If that plant is over 2 weeks old then you're definitely having problems...
That plant looks like one of my 5 day old plants.

yeah she is a lil older still really small. and i use the cfl for her growing light. the regular bulb is main what im using to keep heat in the closet i guess.
so yeah. im reading up on plant growning and faster rates but using expensive ballast and what not...

For veg you can use CFL's and you really want to keep the room 65 degrees or higher during veg and flower. Once you get to flower you're going to require more light or else your plants will struggle. Good luck man.

You need to get your temps up to at least I'd say 72F and let your roots dry out a bit so they start to hunt down more in the soil. Your tops will not grow more than needed to support the bottom. You're probably drowning these babies causing the roots to get less oxygen and stunting the plants growth. Also the low temperatures can stunt growth.

avoid disturbing the roots at all costs. if shes already gotten a good soaking after after you took her rot structure she just needs time to recoop. I woud get some thrive alive b-1 red to help with your root problem.

Don't worry about accidently chopping some roots off, I too had pretty much the same prob as u, after around 2 weeks growth slowed down so i transplanted but totally fucked it up badly and managed to sever around half the plants roots. The plant went into shock for like a week but then started budding under 12/12 and looks like nothing ever happened to it haha

I dont think your using proper soil. That looks like potting mix. The roots cant grow with all the twigs in the soil... Ive made that mistake before. The plant looked just like that and grew very slowly and grew nothing. Read online that the roots struggle to grow around the twigs. The I got some real soil and POOF! Grew 2x as fast.

thanks homies. jus recently made a grow box using mylar and fitted it with an 18in flourencent light. im sure someone on here is getting mad at the fact that i cant get proper growing equipment for my baby. but i just have the one lil girl and truly not enough money to invest in a set-up made for ten plants or more lol.... so far she hasn't slumped over she standing tall, the leafs that were turning yellow seem as tho they are about to fall off, im not sure it this is a good thing or not ? its the first 2 lil leafs that popped out of the seed after germinating. by the way does anyone have an idea of where i could get usable soil relatively cheap ?.

Those always turn yellow and fall off so no worries there...either your local hydro shop or walmart... never use miracle grow. time release fertz and you dont want that.
