Help! Spider Mites in Final Weeks

Wow everyone needs to chill out! OP already stated his opinon and this is why we have so many problems w/ moderation ATM. Anyways, it's kind of late to do much it seems, I tried rinsing my plants when I had an infestation and it didn't do much good. whatever you do though, watch out for mold it will completely ruin everything while the spider mites will at least jump ship once the plants are dying. I heard you can hang them on hangers and they will literally congrate on the hanger and you can just keep replacing the hanger with a new one as they do. on't do anything about the eggs I guess or the dumb mites that might stick around and die but it's something.

got tired of the bickering, so skipped to the last page. just to clarify- a sure fire way to eradicate spider mites is suffocation. by repeatedly elevating co2 concentration in room air to 10,000ppm for 2 hours and then exhaust, you will in effect suffocate the mites and their eggs. This is not a method I've "heard of", or "read somewhere", this is actual application in the field that works time and time again. Obviously the best answer regarding mites is to be clean, and never get them. but once they are there, they get nice and cozy, by removing available oxygen by increasing co2 levels , they suffocate and die, this alone will kill them every time if done properly. of course by the time you notice- alot of damage has already been done, so it wont make yer girls pretty again in 10 minutes but it WILL kill those lil fuckers. mites love high temps, cluster fuck gardens, and unprotected plants. mites hate well spaced ventillated areas, neem oil, and sterile gardening practices.

If you're already using c02 that mght be practical also growing in a smallish air tight space would help. As for the pompous "this alone will kill them" bullshit! No Spider Mites works. There maybe other problems with it that I'm not aware of but I'll find out in another month.

it may not work every time but i do agree it's effective... otherwise NASA probably wouldn't use it. i simply think it's a good part of an IPM plan, which is why i use it in my garden.

Ok...

Update

A friend of mine is going to get me a Hotshot Pest strip for me tonight...and if that fails I'll just take an expensive cab ride over to the nearest store and get it myself. ( I can barely walk much less drive...)

In the last 2 days I hit the plants 2x throughly with an alcohol / water mix and last night an expensive and overpriced organic mite killer that one of the people I give smoke to got for me ( They were trying to help but they didn't know what to get..only that it had to be non toxic and organic)...so they should be ok for a day or so...and there still plenty of ladybugs running around.

But he will have to place the strip in my CEA in the morning when the lights are off and wrap it up before they come on...as I am deathly ill and many chems can aggravate it.

I was even hospitalized for petting a dog who had a flea collar on....went into convulsions and shock just from petting a dog...how sad is that.

Thats why I ignored the chem responses and hoped for a viable organic ( non toxic ) solution.

My plants look stunted and some of the leaf damage is atrocious...especially the Grape Apes...my yield is going to be way low. But since I only smoke just enough to eat and sometimes sleep that should be enough till fall. ( Still have Mason Jar crammed full from my last harvest..top shelf by the way )

However I have found only 2 small webs in the last month..both on lower branch Vs and none near the buds...but I did see the bastards on the leaves nearer the buds before I blasted them with the alcohol and finally the stuff called No Spider Mites ( Geranium oil. Cottonseed oil, Rosemary, Citric acid etc )

But none of this web covering buds or half the plant crap that I see people posting pictures of mite damage of....just spots on leaves ...no dead leaves or even browning of them...I did find a couple of silvery leaves though...half of it was sugar and the other half mite damage. I don't see how people with webs on their buds could ever allow it get that far ! Thats insane !

Webs on buddage..instant dumpster food !

So if I can get this Hotshot going in the next day or so...I might be able to push grow time another 4 weeks ( Includes 2 week flush ) and maybe salvage it.

The 3 people I give weed to ( all Red Cards ) are understanding and are hoarding what they have left...
They even offered to buy a few clones so I could start over...but summer is upon us and it's just too frigging hot even with AC.

Clones are cheap here in Colorado Springs...you can pick up high quality clones for 2 for 30 or 4 for 50 etc.

I'm just never going back to the store where I got these infected clones from.

So Hotshot it is....just need somebody to handle it for me.

The room is sealed and vents outside...

Its made for weed. Besides I tasted it and it has zero flavor. I know you think I'm crazy to taste a pesticide but there are NO chemicals in it and I'm in contact with far worse shit in my day job! The label says that it is exempt from EPA regs cos its a 'minimum risk pesticide".

O I honestly don't know anything about it, but im speaking of pesticides in general

Thank you...

Final entry....

I called my friend on his way to work about 5 minutes ago to make sure he got the Hotshot No Pest Strip..

I also included pics to show that there are no webs and most of the leaf damage is done to the Grape Apes..

The picture of me holding that one leaf shows the worst of the damage and you can see how speckled the GAs are compared to the Cali Mist and the Kush.

I'm hoping with the soon to be gone bug problem I can push it for another month and recoup...you can see how small and spindly they are.

My last crop weighed 2 to 3 x as much at this point.

Pics

The 2 normal light photos are pics of one my last plants..denuded of course...I love looking at naked girls. Woops wrong pics those are last years....but that is usually what my finished product looks like..I think that was a Super Silver Haze.

It's just a bummer I get better and better every grow but then something the size of a pin head can utterly destroy your hard work.

I start the Hotshot tomorrow morning...

Thanks for help..good and bad...and those few of you out there ( You know who you are )...thanks for understanding and sympathy.

Peace..

CO2 or any other chem spray ( non organic ) was not an option...I understand your points, but those are not viable to somebody in my state of health and present physical condition. I am only using Hotshot as a last resort..both time wise and cost wise.

yea - "smallish", for you to know how funny that is to me, you'd have to be me! but I really have nothing to prove, theres always someone bigger and badder. didn't mean to sound pompous, just trying to save people some grief, but reading my post back- maybe a lil pompous... apologies didn't intend to take a condescending tone. but real shit, get a co2 tank for that purpose alone, even if you don't run it daily in the garden. it can save a lot of hassle. I've found it to be a better method than any foliar applied pesticide. peace

I'm going to keep an eye out for a used c02 set up because you're right , even with the best spray its near impossible to hit every mite. Especially in a crowded tent or scrog. Anyone know the c02 cost [in So Cal] to treat about 300 cu ft?

Lol

Forget everything...

I'm just gonna plunk down 50 bucks for a big bottle of Kill Spider Mite instead.

That stuff is amazing !

The lights just came back on and when did I spray it the first time...? Yesterday ?
Anyway the plants look better already...I spent hours with a magnifying glass looking for mites...

I did find one who escaped....but I also saw that the eggs were still encased by the Kill Spider Mite oil.
So I read up more on it and found out after 2 applications it will actually glue the eggs shut suffocating the larva and any pupae !

So tomorrow I spend the money on the big bottle..the one I got before barely finished all 6 plants. Probably why that one got away.

So not only does it kill mites on contact...i saw this myself...it also kills eggs and pupae with a second coat. Seals them in....buried alive..bwah hah ha..!

It does nothing to the buds even you directly spray them.( doesn't brown the hairs..you saw the pics )..which I try to avoid anyway. It has no bad smell...no after taste...buds still smell like buds. I don't need to seal up my room and worry about brain damage or funky weed.
It's completely organic and natural...I could make it myself if I could find all the stuff..
And it kills eggs and pupae too by suffocating them...sweet!

The small leaves around the buds I'll just use a paintbrush to brush that stuff on...get it as close but not on the buds...though the overspray from last time didn't do anything....but if it suffocates bugs it might do something to stomas or whatever they are called on the plant. Could always break out my airbrush...lol..

Anyway..leaves look greener and healthier..plants are ok...except the GAs are still looking a little ragged from being eaten alive.

I'm real anal when it comes to taste, flavor and kind of high that I smoke..real anal.

And I can still keep it all organic and natural

I do have the Hotshot which I paid 9 bucks for...but I'd rather spend 50 more to keep it " real ".

I am going to use the Hotshot to bomb the room after this crop and of course I clean the room ( bleach the walls, new plastic etc )

If it I had had the Hotshot when this nightmare first started I probably would have used the Hotshot..4 weeks ago now...but not this late.

The Grapes are looking like maybe just a few more weeks instead of a month..the Cali Mists and the Kush...month for sure.

But with the GAs so close the idea of a chem that has that long of a half life kinda makes me nervous..I would be pushing the edge...don't like that. Veg no problem..early flower..maybe..at this juncture...I don't think so.

I'll sleep on it...

Just didn't realize something called Kill Spider Mites would do just that..not only kill the mites...but the eggs too.

I'm sold...

Color me out of here....

Peace fellow growers...

always spray with neem before you flower as a prevention......................its the best

I just got a big bottle of Neem today also... also picked up a big bottle of No Spider Mites so I can not only spray the plants one more time but spray the entire room....and everything else in the grow room, pots, humidifiers ( I live in Colorado...it's gets minus humidity here ), fans...duct work...everything.

That should keep them at bay until harvest ...then I can bleach the room and fire off a bomb.

But definitely Neem oil until flowering..and now that I know a sure cure for mites thats organic and safe enough to actually drink !

Not that I will ever have mites again....but I also never thought I would get them in the first place...

No Spider Mites saved my crop....I'll speak up for that product any day. I realize it's not as sure fire as a chem / nerve gas bomb....but it's working for me..al natural.

Also picked up the flush solutions today...

Now that the mites are history or close to...I'm excited about growing again...and actually look forward to checking them...not cringing ever time I open the zipper door like it has been for the last month...wondering if I'm going to see webs or even dead or dying plants.

Just 2 days and they are looking better already...

See you guys next harvest.

I have a Hotshot No Pest Strip...but I'm not going to use it now. Maybe to bomb the room before the younglings move in...maybe not.

Organic solutions may be more expensive...but this one works...it actually frigging works.

Peace...!!
