Help!!! Temperature control bout to drive me effin crazy

First i ve been using water bottle frozen to try to maintain good res temps but still even changing every 3 hours water climbs above 80....i ve jus began to get bacteria under control but need ideas on how to cool water in res in hot enviroment in my garage......am i truly gonna have to bite the bullet and buy a chiller?any response would be appreciated greatly....thank you and its always 420 somewhere

I may have some suggestions but first a few questions. What size is the reservoir? Where is it located? How do you bring in air for ventilation (intake method) or more specifically , from what part of the room do you bring intake air (assuming you do constant exhaust ventilation).If not constant exhaust ventilation , tell us about how you cool the room? I have a few ways to keep it as cool as possible without the use of a water chiller. I hope I can help. P.S. Also need to know the full dimensions of the room and the amount of light , and how far the lights are from the floor.
 
first mine is self contained ....each tote has 4 gallons water in 10 gallon tote 6 plants in each which was worse idea ever..pump inside with drip irrigationrunning up to plants....my room is roughly 5 x 5 i ve been trying to exhaust it with a 12 inch fan place in opening top of room....the garage is finished with drywall and block with concrete floor....the room isnt completely sealed either plenty fresh air in garage no cars and is no longer car garage ya know more like storage space anyway 1000 watts apollo hps light is approximately 5 foot from floor now maybe close to six cant go look at moment they sleepin....one other thing i ve used alluminum foil for reflective is this a no no?

My 2 cents would be get rid of that foil, that radiates heat. Get Mylar or flat white paint (roll on not spray). other than that you could try insulating the reservoirs or yes... bite the bullet get a cooler and don't worry as much.

First things first get rid of that foil asap!

My two cents, that set up looks...well, less that optimal. So what id do would be buy some 2x4s and sheeting and build a sealed or mostly sealed room around them and see if you can grab a window a/c unit off craigs list or somewhere simalar. That should be able to get the temps down to low 70s. If your not having problems though i wouldnt worry so much. One thing i would do right away if its not already done is flower those. I have my doubts that those little net pots will make it without falling into the water because they get so heavy. Good luck man :):):)

well i just do a small personal grow in a small 28x21" footprint 5 or 6 foot tall cabinet. ive ran this small cabinet with a 400 watt and now i do it with 2-90 watt LED ufos and 1-135watt ufo all crammed into a tight formation triangle with one 5 gallon bubbleponics plant. i do this because i dont really smokealot alot, but i love growing different strains w different techniques for 50% pleasure 50% hobby...there is a small little device called an ice probe chiller made by a company called grow coolworks. they are like a hundred bucks and they are for aquariums, i got one and drilled a hole in the side of my bucket and just popped it in the side. it cools a 5 gallon bucket about 4/5ths full down from 80+ F down to about 72-74F (they claim it will bring 10 gallons down 6-8f below ambient temperature) although our set ups are different i still have/had res temp problems and i know what u mean. so my two cents are that since u have such a powerful light that can handle alot of growing just bite the bullet and buy the chiller....and this si why, we all know growing is addicting and ur gonna eventually buy one, amazon.com $300 chiller.... fuck itIMG_9153.jpgIMG_9154.jpgIMG_9155.jpgIMG_9156.jpgIMG_9157.jpg
 
first thanks for ur reply...second....its my first bubbleponics grow and i wasnt gonna built perm structure in garage till i knew exact functions and the needs of what im gonna build ...the ideas are much more clear for next grow......and the idea of a window unit air conditioner well thats jus not for me....before spend money on air conditioning and increase on power i ll buy a chiller first

Here's how I kept my 12 gallon durabox bins cool (about 8 or 9 degrees cooler than the cabinet temperature, filled to 8 actual gallons of water with 1-8" round airstone blowing out .5 cfm of bubbles) in a very small (2'W x 3'H x 18"D) space with a 250 watt hortilux blue bulb running 24/7. I drilled 4" holes (about ten of them) that coincided to half lap the edges of the perimeter where the tank stood (so the air would blow in from the floor and out a 4" can fan HO no carbon and it wasn't even ducted outside because the exhaust was passively sucked into the flowering room) and I put a double layer of 3/4" Mylar coated white polystyrene foam over this bubble cloner/veg chamber (the Polyshield foam was like one big bin lid and holding collar for all the clones , you would just lift them out via means of a pre-perforated 1-1/2" circle that surrounded each clone) and the foam lid would extend about 7" to the left and right of the bin. I cut some holes through the Polyshield foam past the edges of the left and right side of the bin to allow the air to pass (but I didn't cut the holes big enough to eliminate negative pressure , you gotta make that exhaust fan yearn for a little more air). Here's why it worked and why it proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that the "raised floor" method of venting works. The hot air being produced by the bulb could not transfer enough heat through the low density (tightly closed but with a few little air spaces from the holes that held the clone stems) foam lid because the fresh air that blew through the .5 cfm output of the stone created an air pressure (a very low pressure but high enough) that forced its way through the many little holes in the foam lid and the combination of conductive heat transfer between the foam lid and the air passing through from the air stone wouldn't allow much of the incoming air (not the air from the stone , rather the air from the intake holes on either side near the edges of the bin)which has no choice to mix with the heat of the bulb because the space was so tight. So the incoming air and heat from the bulb would for the most part take the path of least resistance out the exhaust fan and the little bit of air rushing through the foam lid holes would not allow the ambient air of the cabinet to enter the airspace between the foam lid and the water surface. Mind you that I took care to place the air stone pump in another room which had no heat source. The bin was literally 18" away from the bulb but it didn't heat up the bin. Bottom to top ventilation. It will cool the room and your reservoir.

wait, chillers are free and use no power?
chiller or not Igloo coolers ftw.
