Help, this keeps happening! Deficiency?

Hey guys... I was using House and Garden's line until they started to look bad like this, then I did a flush with 1/2 RO and 1/2 Tap and switched their nutes to GH's 3 part. I really can't even tell if they are recovering or even growing... I'm 5 weeks into flowering and there is hardly any bud on them...

My pH, as checked with Hanna's GroCheck pH/ec/TDS/C is 5.7-6.1, I check it every day and adjust as necessary. I've been doing reservoir changes every week because someone told me to, but I've been reading on here a lot and I'm noticing that a lot of you guys consider that excessive. My ppm's right now are 1300, with my water starting around 350 ppm, using 1/2 RO and 1/2 Tap. Reservoir temps are kept in the 20-23 C range by putting two frozen 1-gallon in the reservoir each day. I've been throwing 25-30 gals in there at a time.

I'm using the Ebb and Grow bucket system in case you guys can't see in the pics.

Thanks for any help, much appreciated.

I'd back my ppm down to 900-1000. I was having the same problems at 1300 with the Hanna pen...I'm using a bluelab truncheon now and have been using the EC scale.

Yes, I've heard that EC is the only true way to calculate, I guess I should get used to it then... So nutrient burn most likely... ? Anyone else confirm?

Definitely nute burn man...when you see fan leaves start to brown at edges and ESPECIALLY when the leaves start to curl up or turn...always gonna be a ph/nute issue.

As long as you leave your tap water sitting out without a lid for a few days before use, you are fine...all the chlorine etc will evaporate from the water.

Ice in your reservoir?..

Wouldnt that leak ice water into your system?....

Hmm.

Id think that warmer water would be better than colder.

Well I've read many people say that the main issues with Ebb and Grow or other bucket-type systems that one of the main problems is the res temps not being kept down. The water doesn't get excessively cold, only around 70 degrees or so, but I've always been told to keep the root zone 10-15 degrees cooler than the canopy

Ouch, man. That looks like a clusterfuck of problems.

If you have R.O. water, then why not use 90-100% R.O. water? That may be your problem.

GH flora Series provides more than enough Calcium, and if you are throwing any more than 50+ extra PPM of Calcium in your mix, you will most likely see potassium lockout damage, which is evident in the pictures.

Advanced K lockout.

Once K is locked out, the structure of the leaves weaken. Guess what happens next? It'll be twice as susceptible to N burn, among other things.

Your ph is reasonable, between the ideal 5.5 and 5.9 mark. But watch out if it goes above 6.0. K availability falters a bit then.

My guess is that you have too much sodium or calcium in your water-- even with 50% r.o. mixed with it. It is competing with K , or possibly a few trace metals. Not good.

You don't need the Calcium, as GH Flora will meet your plants' needs.

I'd do a fresh mix with 90-100% r.o. water, at 900 ppm. You have lost a lot of foliage, so the lighter diet should help with the rebound before you can go full bore again in a week or two.

R.O. All the way.

Good luck

https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/366019-warning-new-off-gassing-product.html#post4654220 Go to my thread here if you are using black 1/2 hose that was N-G-W.com on it i know why you are having these issues. Get back to me ASAP
I just read your thread man, and I think this is the problem... Wow, your story is so similar to mine and everything.... I've tried different nutes, different ppm's, I've followed everyone I know that grows and every hydro store's advice, and NOTHING seems to help... I guess it would make sense that my hoses are releasing toxins into the water.. Wow, fucking assholes man... I'm down for this class action you're tryin to throw together, count me in!

EWW. The hoses??? Wow. You can't find that in any book.

So are you gonna swap out your hoses and hope for the best?

Hell yeah I'm going to swap out the hoses... I'm going to ask my Hydro store first thing in the morning if they have ever heard of this N-G-W hose issue. u.g.u seems to have his facts pretty down, he even provides water analysis in that thread that he linked to about these N-G-W hoses, proving that toxic chemicals were in his water as a result of these hoses. It's honestly the only thing that makes sense. I, like u.g.u, have lost multiple crops in a row (3 now to be exact), I've tried different nutes, different levels both really low and moderately high, extreme distance with my light (I'm using a water-cooled 1000 HPS), different room temps both cool and hot (I use a Sentinel so it stays between 77-83 at all times), I've tried EVERYTHING. When I stumbled upon u.g.u's thread, warning about these toxic N-G-W hoses I seriously almost shed a tear...... It's been a long arduous journey, and hopefully when I replace these damned hoses this nightmare will finally be over.

Get the word out to as many people as you can. This is a crazy problem that was near impossible to figure out. Tube is such a benign thing that you would never expect. I have over 100 people that have been effected so far. Keep your tube that will be your proof of purchase if this goes anywere. Also if you can put your pics in my thread the more the better.
