HELP!! What Strain/Pheno Did I Actually Get From GHS Bubba Kush???

Back in 2009 I popped a Bubba Kush seed from a Greenhouse Seeds multi-pack, and got a very unique plant. Leaves were extra wide, no real top bud at all, the plant would stop growing at about 3’,and the buds at the bottom hidden by leaves (didn’t know about defoliation back then) were just as dense and chunky as any on the plant with the biggest buds being in the middle. The taste and smell were grape candy, black licorice, gas, and the taste lingered on your tongue for as long as the high. This was not a couch-lock strain at all despite the obvious Indica genetics. I ran this for years until I lost the mom while on vacation. It was maybe the best weed I’ve ever smoked. Used to smoke 2oz a week and this would always cut through my high tolerance.
To get it back, I’ve popped at least 20 other Bubba Kush seeds from Greenhouse, and they were all consistent, but nothing even close to that first plant, which tells me I got an extremely rare phenotype, or it was something other than Bubba Kush all together.
Does anyone know any strain with similar characteristics? I’ve grown at least a couple hundred different plants from seed and have never even seen anything similar. I’ve been chasing this pheno for over a decade so any help or insight would be appreciated!

Everything I've ran from GHS these past couple of years has hermed on me. Such a shitty company.

Was literally listening to a podcast with a breeder last night and they were discussing some of his strains. One of his fit the bill to what you are explaining exactly. I'm sure its something different but maybe give it a try.

Thats crazy I was feeding at ph of 4 or lower by mistake, other stresses and no nanners or seeds etc. Was just watching someone shout out all the 1st place winners they had, didnt know they won so many cannabis cups.

Anyway I have a bonsai clone of said strain it means a lot to me, it with out a doubt cures and cures easily. I have been meaning to grow their Fullgas I have a seed of.

Sounds like environment stress.
No- these plants were super healthy and easy to grow. Always ran with other strains and anyone I gave a clone to had the same consistent results. The shortness was in the genetics for sure. Just a very unique plant.

Aside from the BK hunt I haven’t ran anything by them in a decade. Sounds like they’re outsourcing after Franko passed, but back in the day they were one of the few breeders where almost every seed turned into the picture in the catalog. Sad to hear.

Thanks!! Will check this out! Definitely looked like some of the short bushy Afghan strains I’ve seen, but I’ve never ran anything close to a pure Afghan.

You need to try a few at somepoint then bud and not all afghans are so short the kush types mostly are but alot of the stuff from up north especially is a hybrid of sativa x indica and pretty big plants like mazari etc there still pure ghanis just not what most from the west will think of when they think of the stereotypical ghani they normally think of the shorter ones

Sounds like it could be grape ape or urkle x bubba your looking for. Franco got given that cutting they were reversing and selling as bubba and a few others from apocathary. Ghs wrote out genetics for most things are normaly bs, but as their trying to sell those seeds as bubba and back then most people didnt even know what bubba kush was with some thinking its some bubble gum x og. If you contact the guy from apocathary and tell him the strain and pheno you found he' ll probably be able to tell you what it was an may still have a seed version around.

I Wish they would just say what it is and not make up storys but yeah ghs can be a bit iffy when it comes to lineages and such

GHS is one of the only companies I can see where they need to be cemented their seed stock is def unstable .

10+ years i remember buying a multi pack, every single one hermied out! honestly I haven’t ever seen online or someone locally ever germinated a ghs that wasn’t crap.. im not a guy who wants to bash peoples brands but ghs deserves it and than some. if it isn’t unstable it’s crap quality from them . Todays market of seeds , yes u may get a few hermies but at least majority u have a good chance of finding something worthy to smoke, even bag seeds

Youd be suprised how mean people get swayed by story or names or looks. Guess what the lemons strains brand cookies run im sure are done by ghs. You,d be suprised how many others run their seed. Ther slh nearly every american breeder used.
