Help with aquaponics

So i've been growing for about 4 months now in soil. Indoors mostly unless you count my greenroom with lots of sun outdoors. I have a goldfish pond in the greenroom and i just discovered aquaponics.

So i have a goldfish pond in my greenroom and i have a water pump. Basically im asking how to set this up for 1 large plant or maybe a few smaller ones. I'm a complete 100% hydroponics noob. I don't know if i should set the pump on a timer or let it run constantly. I don't know how much room i need per plant. I'm thinking about using perlite as the medium.

Do i just fill up a bucket with perlite and have water comming in through the top with a tube comming out of the bottom? Am i even close?

Ok after some more research, ive whittled it down a bit as to what i think my options are.

1. a black bucket with water going in and out at the same pace and a large airstone in the bottom of it. the plant sitting in one of those hydro net thingies with clay pellets.
i think its called bubbleponics?

or

2. a flood/drain system where the bucket is filled with clay pellets and i use an electric timer

aside from these specifics, the only other thing im really worried about is that the pond does have algae due to direct sunlight but i can work that problem after this one =p

I'm tryin to work this. C'mon hydro people flex your e-skills!

No pond scum is bad. The only way to obtain great Aquaponic Nutrition is hundreds of fish in a controlled environment indoors away from contaminents and elements. A UV sanitizer is a must if using fish emulsion, its a powerful light that kills harmful bacteria. Most peopl have given up on aquaponics becuase its labor intensive and most of the previos knowlwde has been lost with the growers who are not talking or in jail. aqauponics used to be popular in the late 80s mid 90's.

thanks guys =) I'll check those links but i think im gonna go with a bucket and ebb/flow. its REALLY easy to make happen and cheap because i already have all the parts.

There is very little pond scum at the moment and most of it is waste. It's pretty well handled
