help with clones drooping

hey guys, I've been growing my mother plant for 4 weeks now and thought id try doing abit of cloning, went out bought a humidity dome, cloning formula, i think its called yates clonex or something. anyways I've put the clones in a medium its kind of like soil but came in little compact pellets. they are under 3 45 watt CFL's but theres a problem i cut them on a 45 degree angle and all that dipped it in the gell and stuck them in. but i put them in the sun light seeing as it was a very sunny day. and when i went back outside to check on them they were so drooped and floppy. I've put them back inside now and they are looking so dead like the leafs are looking like they are drying out. can some please help me ill put some photos up here.

sun causes too much transpiration for them. even 135 watts of cfl may be too much.

better luck on the next batch!

so theres no going back might as well throw them out? so next time i must use only 1 45 watt cfl? what can i do to prevent this? thank you for the quick reply by the way

clones only need enough light to stay alive, anything more causes unneeded transpiration. the sun is deadly, as you learned the hard way.

if they're not dead, they're alive. keep any that are still alive, chuck the rest.

can you put any water in the dome? that'll fix that.

They have a chance to make it IMO. You need to trim off about 1/2 - 2/3 of the leaf mass and mist them. They have dried out and cannot support that much foliage at this point. They do not need much light at all to root. Next time just keep about 40 watts of "true" cfl light over them and keep the roots/base of pots warm.

If you can take more clones, I would do so as they have a "chance" but might not make it...

like spray it in or just put a glass in there?

When you take clones in future put them in the dome and put it in beside whatever you happen to be vegging,but just stick them in a corner they dont even need direct light.And dont leave big leaves on them,cut them in half.Good luck!

Ps.You just need to spray(mist) the inside of your dome with water

Here is what I do Clay:

I usually start a day early preparing my dome. I like 90% or higher humidity maintained through my 5-7 day cloning cycle, so the first thing I do is plug in my heat mat and start off filling my domes tray with warm tap water. I usually put about half a inch in the bottom and then replace the plastic inserts that came with it. After a few hours the dome will be thick with condensation. I stick a thermometer/hygrometer combo in there and when the temps hit 78-80 it's ready. I have the dome in my veg tent with a 400watt MH bulb, but I always put the dome in the corner and shade it heavily with my mother plant. I'll take my clones from ol' mom and jam them in rapid rooters and stick them in the dome. I ran out of rooting hormone a year ago and never bought another bottle. Seems to work like a champ without it. 3 days of 90+% humidity i'll crack open the vents and by day 5 I open most of the vents up. By day 7 I always have roots. Also I mist them twice a day before and after work.

I have found that successful cloning is 99% environment and 1% luck. They like warmer temps and high humidity.

Your on the right track. Sometime I think us cannabis growers kill our plants with kindness, but every mistake we make is a learning experience.

My suggestion would be to get a tray, 7" dome(i like the ones with vents), root riot plugs and insert(the insert goes in the tray and holds the root riot plugs), clonex(or something similar like you have), and a heat mat.

Take your cutting, dip in gel, put in root riot cube, and put in your tray. Turn the heat mat on, spray your dome, and cover them with it. Snoyl has the right idea, clones don't need that much light at all. I usually put them down in the corner of my veg tent and just make sure I mist the dome and keep the humidity up. They will drink through their leaves until the develop roots. Hope this helps. Also, this same set up with a 2" dome works great for germ/sprouting seeds!

Bucees is right, the cloning gel really isn't needed. I use it more out of habbit then anything else but I know a lot of people, who like Bucees, just stopped using it and didn't seam to impact their success rate.

I use a single 26w cfl over 15-25 cuttings, that is more than enough light.
