Help with growlab 60

So I am going to be starting my first grow soon in a Growlab 60 (anyone familiar?) It's 2' wide 2' deep and 5'3" tall. My question really has two parts..

For my growlab i have a 400 watt MH/HPS system. Is this too much for such a small area? Or will I be okay?

And also, since I know I'm going to have a lot of light in a small area, I'm going to need to keep my plants small so they don't outgrow the box or get burned by the light. So what is a good way to grow smaller plants?

I realize that the second part of my question probably belongs in a different forum.

but anyone have an answer to my first question?

yeah I do have this up and running. and it works great. my plants are growing really fast and rather bushy. I think they are growing bushy because of the abundant amount of light thats reflected to all sides of the plant

I haven't had really any problems with it so far.

heres the deal, i'm a rookie bro and i haven't finished one grow in this setup yet. so i really haven't figured out everything, such as how long to flower,how many plants it can hold, etc.

I have four in there right now, 2 at 4 weeks, and 2 at 2 weeks. I started flowering both of them at the same time, as i don't have a seperate grow area for vegging, i have to put the younger plants on the same schedule as the older plants. It's already getting pretty crowded so i'm kinda thinking i might have to pull one out and put it outside because they are not near being done and its already cramped. Like I said, I'm still learning how to handle it.

You were wondering about heat? it gets really hot, i keep the fan on whenever the lights on. I just run a piece of 4" ducting through the top opening which has a drawstring to secure the ducting. There are three screen vents on the bottom of the growbox with velcro flaps so you can control outside light exposure. It also creates a wonderful airflow when you exhaust the air straight out the top while new CO2 is being pulled through the bottom vents up through the plants and out the top again to complete the cycle. I don't have a carbon filter because I'm strapped for money atm and I thought I can wait on that till my plants smell a little bit more. But I definitely am getting one! So if you already have that then right on.

One last thing, to my shame I am an impatient person! So when I got all the materials I needed I put this together the easiest and fastest way I could, so its pretty obvious I'm growing, the people I live with don't mind so I bought this setup more just as a place to grow and I didn't have to worry about stealth.

Those tents do get super hot, best thing you can do is get an inline vented reflector like a cool tube or a euro reflector. But then you would need to setup another can fan for carbon filter.

And 400 watt is perfect for that sized area.

is this thing fully light proof? im trying to decide between this and the homebox S, how do you like it? how many plants do you think you can fit in this thing

I think what you described would be more than enough for this room.

It's really not that big so as long as you vent that hot air straight off your light you'll be fine.

23w x 3 CFL 6500k + 45 watt LED

what is the size of the vortex fan are u using or what i meant to say is what is the cfm's

the 400w will be fine, just keep your eyes on the temp. 400w is good for a 6x6. you might get a little more heat then you want, but i had to put a added vint in my box, better the vine then slow growing pipper. and the outher Q? just top the plant after 4 1/2 feet it will stop growing after a week or so, and it will start working on feeding the bud
