Help with Hydroponics.

Hey guys, I've lost one set of 6 seeds already, don't want to do it again really so instead of telling myself I know all the answers I'm going to ask for help this time :)
I really want to move on from soil to hydro, but I clearly need to do my research and ask questions first.

So I got the rockwool cubes, do I spray them with water or dip them in a pot of PH'd down water and then pull them out for a day before I use them?

After that I insert the seeds about 0.5mm deep, stick under a HPS light(600 watt) in a propagator(all I've got, would I be better off leaving it on my bedroom window for a while?) and wait for signs off life, is this right? or am I missing out a step?

Now, Life appears I take it out of the propagator and stick it in the Hyrdo system I'm running.(something like this http://www.autopot.co.uk/watering-systems/easy2grow-kits/easy2grow-4-4x-pots).
Now I'm completely lost, the water never reaches the little root that's there, I feel around in the pot and it's as dry as a desert in the pot... I've read I should water from the top but I've also read if I do that the plant will put water intake roots at the top and not at the bottom or something, basically fucks the plants because it wont take in enough water.

If you could help with these questions it'd be great!!
Thanks guyssssssss

sound like you're doing everything right.

Tips:
.
The rock wool should be moist but not soaked if you pick it up and it drips it is way to wet. you want it to feel wet but don't want it to drip if you give it a light squeeze

Roots: unless you have a drip system you will need to manually dip the rock wool cubes until the roots get long enough to reach the water.

You might want to post this in the hydro section.

I soak my rockwool in ph-d water for 24 hours prior to inserting the germed seeds in them.

Sound like your on the right track.

more information would be great like what type of hydro you are using

ebb/flow,dwc,drip,areo ect
Tips:

You want the rockwool cubes to be moist but not soaked. if you pick it up and it drips it is way too wet. You want a drop or two to come out if you give it a little squeez

Roots: Unless you have a drip system set up you will have to manually dip the cubes to water your seedlings. Keep doing that until the roots are long enough to reach the water

and you want to germinate seeds in the dark, man...you've got them under a HPS? that'll kill em, I am pretty sure. have ya ever googled "germinating mj seeds?" they don't need/want light until there is green out..preferably with either a heating pad or germination mat under, I used a heating pad, its what I had, I put my aquarium thermometer in there and kept it like 78-80 and with a dome over it all (they want warm and moist and humid), they popped out of the perlite and had 3" roots in 5 days (popped in 3)once the small round leaves came, then I turned on the fluorescent lights

you can germ under light mj seeds dont need light to germ but they do need to be warm.

I assumed that your hps was like 4 feet way Just to keep them warm. It is a lot of light for a sprout personally i use cfls for germ/sprouts

Lol no guys I didn't germ under light, I germ in wet paper towel in a warm place.

So I need to dip the rock wool, with the roots in, in water once a day? And keep the light 4 feet away unroll a month or so I guess so the leaves don't burn.
