I'm sorry to ask so many questions, I really have a hard time with electronics info/fact sheets ect.
I have tried to take it in in the last couple of years, It just doesn't click for me,
so I appreciate everyones help & patience.
Please, witch of the two below would be the more effective, efficient for my 4x4,
not factoring cost, just light performance
HLG 550 V2 RSPEC @ $764.10

6x qb96 Ev2 @ 69.ea $414.00
2x hlg 320h-54b @ 84.60ea $169.20

My vote is on the qb96, maybe not cause of number efficiency, but between better spread, more max power and the possibility to simply add another 2 x96ers later for a even better spread and efficiency; i think it will grow more and better. But maybe a bit more power consumption. If you have the extra power i bet your going to use it.Thank you for everyones help !!

Also OP, look into 8020 for your frame with qb96’s that’s what I’ve been using it’s super easy and amazing. Can give you a list of what I used for my 4x4 area with 6 qb96 if you want. It’s a bit pricey but it looks amazing

I'm running mine at about 100 watts at the wall for each qb96 w/ pin sink, no fan on them with two per hlg 185h-54a. I use two ~2ft pieces of aluminum angle 1/8th thick 3/4 or 1/16 thick 1" mounted to the qb96s heat sinks screw holes and then mount the driver diagonally across that. Having a drill press helps but not required.

Is qb better than strips? Depends on how you define good. Strips are more work but can get better even coverage. Qbs are easy to work with but means different considerations to managing heat in the chip and thermal.managment.
Strips come jn many styles and different diodes of varying spec. Real hlg qb is allways top bin.
But since prices are different sometimes you can get qb performance witth stripa for the same price by running more chips softer with strips.
For a newb id recommend using single qbs at around 80-90w each max.

Cant go wrong with Atreum 144.2 or 288.2 for boards and/or Bridgelux strips.
If your not trying to do the DIY thing, look for older Mars Hydro lights. You can find them pretty cheapp used..
