Yes you will need air cooled hoods if you run 2 600's.
Quite right... a 600 alone will work out ok. Now if you intend to run any Sativa's or Sativa heavy cross's...You might want to go with that 1K or the 2 600's.....personally, I would do the 1K as if at any time you increase your area or do a room. You'll have one already.
As far as your electric bill goes, rates vary all over and it's tough to say with conviction but, $20 sounds about right....
Keep in mind that DE's are open and that means heat - no air cooled hoods....So really I just need to stop researching and just buy because now I am looking at getting a DE HPS.....seriously, I need to just walk away. I am a huge fan of Sativa's so this is great information, thank you.
Exciting news, we are getting clones from a buddy this weekend! everything is set up besides the HPS for the flowering.
Gorilla Glue #4 and Big Bud. Not my Black Cherry Soda I am searching for but not too bad.
That is what I thought at first, but I cam across this. https://growlightcentral.com/collections/hid-grow-lights/products/yield-lab-double-ended-air-cool-hood-hid-grow-light-reflector I am still researching it, and the company. They sell a package with everything and a XXL Reflector hood , I am going to see if I pay extra if i can swap out the one hood for the other.Keep in mind that DE's are open and that means heat - no air cooled hoods....
If you wanna spend the money....... never hurts to have more than you need. This is what I do. However I recommend investing in a 8 inch exhaust fan that will easily do your filter and cool tube and a 6 inch exhaust etc for your 400w

Also have my Inline fan and I will have a tall rotating fan. We are lucky that it is in my basement and it doesn't get warm in there at all.

IMO, anything < 2000w doesn't need an 8" inline... the 6" will do fine, but buy a quality one, not a budget one, or youll buy another in under a year.
REAL In-line fans, not 'booster' fans... 400-500cfm fans... with clamps dammit, dont try n duct tape that shit! Blowoffs = wicked high temps in grow room....
That is good to know, since I do have time before our flowering stage I should just start buying it piece by piece. I do think we are going to do the DE HPS, I know he will end up wanting it later so why not.I looked - interesting.
All you need is the hood, a bulb and the ballast......don't need a DE all in one..
My fan is a high quality fan from Germany lol. 6inch works. But wish I had got a 8inch now.If you wanna spend the money....... never hurts to have more than you need.

I am outside of Detroit, MI so today it is 18 outside? Tomorrow it is supposed to be like 4. We get to about 85 in the summers, my basement stays freezing all year long so that will help some.My fan is a high quality fan from Germany lol. 6inch works. But wish I had got a 8inch now.
It all depends on where you live. Its getting hot down here at the moment. So I'm already dealing with light off temps of 20-25c. When my 1000w comes on it climbs up to 29-30c. If I had a 8 inch fan I could keep them a few degrees lower easily.
Bigger the better.
Yeah I don't think where I live and Detroit will be on the same path weather wise. Today was a nice 31cI am outside of Detroit, MI so today it is 18 outside? Tomorrow it is supposed to be like 4. We get to about 85 in the summers, my basement stays freezing all year long so that will help some.
