Help With Ph And Setup

So here is my current set up, i have a 6 plant system under a 400 watt HPS in a recirculating res. the res is filled about 12-15 gal with a solution which is 6.0 PH when i first change the H2O every week. Now the plants are in 6, 6" net pots that hang onto the res, i have a drip(2steaks per plant) which runs every 30min, the run off is into the res.

I check the Ph every morning and its up like 10 points, so to 7.0 and highter..
. i add stuff to fix it and the next morning the same thing! DOES ANY ONE HAVE A SOLUTION??? Why does it fluctuate soo much?

I want plant system that i have to check once or twice a week, what kind of set up do i need? What is the best, least maintainance?

Hey rip...

what medium are you growing in? Are their rockwool cubes in your net pots? Did you soak them before using them?

What are you using to lower your pH?
What kind of nutrients are you using?

cheers

Mine went from 5.5 to 8.0 in just a few hours. I had lots of brown slime and that somehow changed the PH. I used hygrozyme and hydrogaurd and it got rid of it. I spent over 150$ on PH down. Why kind of nutes do you use? You might want to look into nutes with PH buffers....it will save you $$.

Wow, so much, well for a quick solution i was using distilled white vinegar i ran out of ph down....Even thought even with PH down nit was rising quickly. I use Super Nutrients, by A B Fertilizer Inc. What are ph buffers? how do they work? and what do you guys us to keep ur Ph level? and how often?

PH buffers are just in your nutrients and stabilize the PH levels. Usually you will know if your nutes have them because when you add the nutes to the water the PH will go down.

As for maintaining the PH level, like I said before, you need to get rid of anything living in your res, like algae. If your roots hang in the solution it allows dead roots to decompose and provide food for microorganisms, which will cause the PH to rise. After that it takes only a shot or two of PH down to maintain the desired level, every 2-3 days.

Its a bitch but you will figure it out.
