I'm starting my first grow soon, and I was wondering about how SOG works. Mainly the part that confuses me esspecially with my limited space is: How do you keep the plants short and still get good yeilds, and how do you keep the plants short to begin with, is it just as simple as switching from veg to flower light cycles after the first two weeks of veging?

Dang dude i dont even know where to start. what some people do is use any kind of screen on top of the plant at the desired height and this will keep your plants short. or you could tie your plants down one branch at a time to hold it down. orrr you could grow your plant on a 12/12 light schedule from the beginning and this will make your plants flower really early. and they say its better than vegging like 2 weeks and then switching to 12/12 but i dont know that first hand. how small is your area and how how many plants do you want to have?

Well if your tryin to squeeze as many plants in there as you can then i think you will get absolutely no more than 8. For you have 8 sq ft and if you can find some 4 gallon pots that use a area of one square ft then you could fit exactly 8 pots. And not to mention how small your plants will have to be. For the best non root restricting pot you want about 1 gallon of soil for every ft of growth to optimize root growth. So if i were you i would either veg to about 15" then flower and deal with (4)(cosidering 4 are female) 3 ft tall plants and put them in Zig Zag allignment to opitmize light to plants in this very compact space
I'm going to do an aeroponics system, one person actually did 100 plants in that 2x4 space in 2in pots, and got a huge yeild. I'm going to try around 15 or so in 4in pots, and try SOGing so only the tops will really need light. At least I think thats how it's suppose to work, and it will be surroundd in either white paint, or mylar walls. There is a thread about it, I'll find it and link it.

haha i dont believe your story on the 100 plants deal. you have to think that the plants need light, and with it being so crouded what you will do is starve your plants of light. if i was you i wouldnt try anymore than 8.

not my story lol, I left the link right above your last post. I think you're right about the 8, but I'm still reading around to see if my plan can be done.
